Because making the BBC partially dependent on a CIA slush fund America’s deep state can influence the BBC’s narrative to where they want it to go.
Frankly, given the BBC’s influence over British and global opinion via the BBC World service I would have been amazed if the US deep state hadn’t been giving the BBC money, or at least encouraging their UK deep state counterparts to do it to further their common interests.
BTW, this MAY be another one if it’s affiliated with The Guardian newspaper...
