No need. Honduras is already cooked with the cancellation of 171 million annual US aid, plus the prospect of losing 25% of their GDP when their citizens are no longer contributing to the economy with monies being sent back (called “remesas”).

Xiomara is up for re-election (primaries in March), so she has to appear to be doing something. She has no leverage. She isn’t popular as it is well known she is dancing with the narcotraffickers. Here political campaign signs are constantly being defaced in the rural areas.

The 2 are not related, we can be the world’s reserve currency without becoming the world’s dumping ground.

Being the world's reserve currency, running massive trade and finance imbalances, having large government debt - certainly means a few things WILL occur. That you will have a large central government which controls massive spending. You will lose manufacturing jobs to overseas. your economy will become increasingly financialized. Your institutions will necessarily be "globalized" in their reach and outlook, by necessity of the globalism of your finance, trade and military. Your central bank will need to become a central planning agency.

These are all the conditions for large, woke, interventionist government and the rise of a elite/crony government and business-crony class

Sound familiar?

Its like getting cancer - maybe you won't have, or can control, one or two particular symptoms - but you WILL get many of the symptoms.

“Urgent meeting”.

Can I laugh now or is it still too early?

Looks like cruisers are going to have to find another place to disembark. St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands will have a lot of new tourists.

A lot of the “symptoms” you list are not necessary results of being a reserve currency.

The list of problems you gave are ones that exist for many countries, including the UK, and many of them have it worse than the US, and none of them are the world’s reserve currency. So one can develop those problems completely independent of reserve currency status.

The reason they exist is because politicians are always tempted to spend the public’s money to enrich themselves.

And with a completely printed, fiat, centrally issued currency, and the fact that world's reserve currency status allows a politician to do so in huge amounts, bigger and more than any other country.

Your solution seems to be: "let's elect angels to lead us, instead of humans."

No, my solution is we have to watch our politicians like a hawk. Regardless of whether we are the world’s reserve currency or not.

Say these words very slowly to our self. “MONROE DOCTRINE:” The Monroe Doctrine is a United States foreign policy position that opposes European colonialism in the Western Hemisphere. It holds that any intervention in the political affairs of the Americas by foreign powers is a potentially hostile act against the United States.[1] The doctrine was central to American grand strategy in the 20th century. <2>

Ending being the world’s benefactor, making other nations ‘pay their fair share’, acquiring other resources... along with utilizing our own resources..

If only it were as simple as you make it out to be.

First, the benefactors are not the rest of the world. The benefactors are primarily Europe, which DOES not pay their way, runs woke socialist regimes, and lets us pay and do the heavy lifting while they beg for more while making crazy demands that are impossible to back up.

Second, the US and Europe comprise less than 14% of the world population and 40% of the world GDP. Our GDP is shrinking while the rest of the world grows. This ain't the 1980s anymore. The rest of the world is catching up and paying their own way and growing their own economies and countries and don't necessarily need us.

The days when 14% of the world population can dictate to the other 85% are rapidly coming to an end. It's time we learn to get along instead of threatening and bullying the rest of the world with our printed money military and meddling in countries all over the globe.

The world is changing. We can accept it or fight it. The easy and less destructive way is to deal with it by getting along. It will not hurt us but allow us to continue to grow for our children and grandchildren.

Otherwise, we will grow our $35 trillion in debt to a collapse, which seems to be the way we're headed at the moment.

Trump is bringing back the Monroe Doctrine, Obama had abandoned it as Imperialistic exploitation of black and brown people..

It is much needed. Chyna is making a bid to control OAS and actually does control several members of OAS.

See:

China has permanent Observer Status at OAS.

https://www.oas.org/en/media_center/press_release.asp?scodigo=e-087/04

YOu bet we need the Monroe Doctrine.

Say the words “Monroe Doctrine.” IN public. Many times. MAGA !

Nothing worth having or doing is simple. And I was referring to the USA as being the benefactor to the rest of the world, including Europe. We have been the Santa Clause for too long now. We are deep in debt which translates to flat broke, currently, thanks to America’s enemy within, the Democrats, working on behalf of America’s enemies without.

“Second, the US and Europe comprise less than 14% of the world population and 40% of the world GDP. Our GDP is shrinking while the rest of the world grows. This ain’t the 1980s anymore. Our GDP and dismal economy is the victim, once again and as usual, of radical leftist policies working against America, to aid and benefit our global competitors AND our enemies (China, for one). That trend occurs every damned time the Democrats are in power and has especially been the case since 2008. If you want to see what the entire country would be like if these leftists get their way, California is a prime example of FUBAR... and they want to spread and increase that to the whole country. Treasonous SOBs that they are, they must be dealt with this time... else the next election they steal really will be the ‘last one’ sans an all out civil war.

“The days when 14% of the world population can dictate to the other 85% are rapidly coming to an end. It’s time we learn to get along instead of threatening and bullying the rest of the world with our printed money military and meddling in countries all over the globe.”

It has nothing to do with any 14% of the population. It has to do with being a superpower, which the USA still is, despite the best efforts of our traitors within, the Democrats and their RINO helpers. As for bullying the rest of the world, you sound like you’re one of those “enemies” I speak of. The rhetoric sounds only too familiar.

***

“The world is changing. We can accept it or fight it. The easy and less destructive way is to deal with it by getting along. It will not hurt us but allow us to continue to grow for our children and grandchildren.”

Lol... much like the “climate change” BS... the world has ALWAYS changed, from Day One. And don’t look now... but from my perspective... Trump’s first week in office looks a lot like he (and we) ARE “fighting it”. So buckle up. If you’re against us, you’re in for a very unhappy, unpleasant and bumpy ride. If you’re for us... it promises to be one helluva “fundamental transformation” of an ‘America Comeback to Sanity’ ... away from the leftist CRAP we’ve had to endure for the past fifteen years.

***

“Otherwise, we will grow our $35 trillion in debt to a collapse, which seems to be the way we’re headed at the moment.”

No, actually.... that is incorrect. The leftist Democrat spending spree is over... and much of that will either be clawed back or will be compensated for via our ability now to actually USE our own resources for a change (drill baby drill), and via other Trump initiatives, including tariffs on many globalist deserving bast%rds. It will take some time to right this ship, but barring some unforseen disaster, it WILL be righted... and I predict the resultant economy boom will usher in a Vance presidency easily in 2028.

It’s amusing, the US has pandered to pleebish nations for so long they honestly think that they can stand up to the US and not get smashed hard.

Clubs rarely need to be used once folks realize you are willing to use them

Come on now. Pushing the blame off on the radical left and the Dems is a cop-out.

See the attached chart of our national debt. Two of the worst periods were Republicans -- Trump and Bush. And, to top it off, we had control of both houses of Congress for some of that time.

You are just wrong. It's not the radical left and Dems -- it's all of Washington DC and the out-of-control spending on disastrous wars and trying to be the world's Santa Claus and gatekeeper.

Nothing I see, including a new Trump term, says that is about to change.

Hope ain't no strategy!

“Hope ain’t no strategy!”

Well, it sure as hell worked to dupe the Obama morons... enough to vote for him (Hopey and Changey writ large).

If you’re not willing to admit that MOST of the reckless spending and wasting of taxpayer dollars and MOST of the damage done to the US economy has been done by the leftist/globalist Democrats and their RINO cohorts... then you are basically self-identifying as anything but a Conservative (this is a Conservative forum, btw). Thanks for that, at least. As for Trump’s spending.... I’ll take that plus the resultant economy he left the election-stealing Democrats in 2020 any day and thrice on Sunday. Soon to be a new reality, once again, in America. Chew on ‘that’ reality...lol.
