And his "high quality" descendant sterilized himself.

Why don’t you just go post something that you consider higher quality? Better to light a candle than curse the darkness.

Kids are a dice-toss in a game against the universe.
The results are unknowable beforehand because of so many random factors.
You win some, you lose some.
The only way to be sure of winning at least some is to toss a lot of dice.

Current Musk girl (apparently)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natasha_Bassett

Shivon Zilis didn’t last too long, or maybe that was arranged specifically for reproduction. Musk is pretty cold-blooded. He is a bit of “Ming the Merciless” in many ways. Ming was written as pretty funny btw, in the comics.

Note this girl, though an actress, is taking a Harvard extension course in astrophysics. Very much in Musk’s zone.

Not really.

Kids are what you raised them to be.

Many people do not bother raising their kids and end up running around and crying about how they turned out.

Being a parent is not something you do when you have time. You make them your priority.

There are way too many variables in re children over which we have little or no control. Nature in its random reshuffling of genetics can yield vastly different capabilities and handicaps; add to that with all that can happen in gestation, and you get physical, biological results that can never be fully compensated for by parents, no matter how much effort they put in. Nature simply trumps nurture. This has been argued for decades but the consensus these days indicates that.

And parental effort in itself is not certain. Parents screw up, even with the best will in the world. Dedicated parents can do x, or can do y, and guess wrong. There is no guaranteed success formula.

Christ told us to put up weeds. I’m doing absolute best, but you people make me want a jug of Roundup.

Sadly, what you want is rarely what you get. So accept the fundamental depravity of the universe. Diogenes for instance lived in a barrel and shouted at everyone. You might give that a shot.

Yeah that is what people who did not actually bother to put the work in try to tell themselves.

Saw it just a month ago with some parents trying to excuse why their kids went anywhere from mildly to really wrong.

I saw how you raised your kids because I was right there with a kid's eye view. You put what was easiest for you first. And you got what you put into it.

Other parents from the same family group raised kids that turned into responsible adults that married, stayed married, had kids and in turn raised them into responsible adults not because of some twist of fate but because they put in the work.

It tends to make the irresponsible parent cry and scream but that is reality.

Diogenes also tended to bark at people (hence the word cynic, from one form of ancient Greek cynos-dog). You may have the barking well along. You may be ready to look for a barrel.

And then I had the case of my sons classmate, who had wonderful parents (their daughter was accomplished and wonderful) but the son had a serious case of congenital emotional disturbance. You cant parent your way out of that. They tried. I was very sorry for them.

I am interested in IQ studies. There is a ton of material out there. The most telling are twin studies - identical twins separated at birth and adopted by different families. It turns out that twins have highly correlated IQ even if raised in different environments. Their IQ’s are not correlated with adoptive siblings. That, and much else, has led to conclusions like nature>nurture.

A lot of this first got out in public discourse with “The Bell Curve”, Herrnstein and Murray. A lot since has been published reinforcing their conclusions.

I believe Jordan Peterson has referred to this study - its not just IQ thats heritable.

That sounds like a threat really. Its a good thing, probably, to yell at the internet, else what would you be doing to your neighbors? Or family?

Anyway, its Segovia day!

I love the way you decide that they were "wonderful parents" because their daughter was Accomplished. As if her playing Brahms was some sort of tribute to them. We will ignore the fact that she is cutting herself and having sex with the entire school faculty.

It turns out that twins have highly correlated IQ even if raised in different environments.

Actually the twin studies that they did have twins raised by different families but in pretty much the same environment.

When they were raised in truly different there was a difference of over 20 points. Which is quite a bit.

I know the people who are devoted to the idea of "I want to spawn them but Marx forbid I actually spend anytime actually raising them" want it to be genetic but it isn't.

So the fact that Elon's son sterilize himself is all on Elon. And his other kids are also going to be wretched people. He is not willing to be a father and picks horrible women to be the mothers.
