Meta Eliminates DEI Programs
TechCrunch ^ | January 10, 2025

Axios reports that Meta is eliminating its biggest DEI efforts, effective immediately, including ones that focused on hiring a diverse workforce, training, and sourcing supplies from diverse-owned companies. Its DEI department will also be eliminated.

In a memo leaked to the outlet, Meta said it was making these changes because the “legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the United States is changing.”

Meta is not alone: Microsoft and Zoom have rolled back their DEI efforts. Lawsuits have emerged against programs that were targeted toward specifically the Black and Latino communities.

Meta also announced this week it would curb its efforts in fact-checking speech on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. And users don’t seem to be happy about it: Searches on Google related to deleting Meta accounts have skyrocketed since Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement.

Unless Meta fires its entire HR staff all of this is going to be temporary. Corporate HR departments are the biggest enforces of woke. They filter the employees and they enforce speech codes and punishments on everybody else.

There’s been a few times in my career where I have had to attend mandatory struggle sessions with these drily women. Whenever I was asked if I had learned anything I always said “No, I learned manners in kindergarten.”

I don't buy it, I don't buy any of these business suddenly ending and disbanding these DEI programs they spent years and much money building just because Trump got elected or for whatever reason...it's a little too easy if you were to ask me...I suspect anyone saying they are ending their DEI program will, under cover of darkness and away from prying eyes recreate said program under a new name but with the same or worse goals. IMHO

Good point, but it’s still a step in the right direction that they realize DIE is bad for business.

Where will the LGBTQ+++MAPs go when they don’t get a free pass on their mental illness?

Why not say DEI is a total failure morally and financially.

I wish the programmers of FB would revert it to the older interface. I hate the way the FB webpage is constructed now.

I hope Trump’s DOJ goes after these big corporations and their racist DEI programs. These corporate jerks need to pay a huge price for their betrayal of American citizens. Jim Snow needs to die just like Jim Crow.

Mark took the red pill.

Seems like it. After Joe Biden used him in 2020.

Now that many companies are ditching the D.E.I. humbug then perhaps we will start seeing T.V. commercials with ethnicities other than Black?

There are legal foundations and firms that have finally got off their ass and started suing.
