Kurakhovo Has Fallen: On the Last Day of the Year, Russian Forces Conquer Key Donetsk Logistics Hub With the Last Ukrainian Coking Coal Plant

2024 ended with a BANG in the Donetsk region, disputed by Russia and Ukraine in some of the largest battles since WW2.

On the last day of December, the Russian 5th brigade raised their flag over the Kurakhovo industrial zone, last bastion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the city.

They really ruined the whole New Year for the Ukrainians.

Three factories in the Kurakhovo industrial zone are now under Moscow control.

Kurakhovo was the lynchpin of Ukrainian defenses in the region, and its fall opens the way for the Russian troops to Pokrovsk, a key logistical hub for Kiev.

The loss of Kurakhovo hurts Kiev from the economic standpoint as well, since the local coal mining area was the only place under Ukrainian control where coking coal was still being produced.

The loss of the coal plant kneecaps Ukraine’s steel production, and therefore its military industries.

Military sources report that these factories were the last fortified area of the Ukrainian defenders, completing the conquest of the town.

All that remains is to wait for an official report from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Kurakhovo, besides being a key logistics hub, was the last Ukrainian position for firing artillery shells towards Donetsk city. The 10-year siege against the breakaway regional capital is over.

Worthy of Monty Python or perhaps Orwell and "chocolate." Kudos! :)

And yet the Neocon nutters try to tell us that Russia has suffered 10 times the casualties as the Ukrainian. Eastern Ukraine looks like the Moon thanks to total Russian artillery dominance but we are to believe that Ukrainian casualties are low. It’s a disgusting lie.

The wasteland of rubble in the Ukraine has seriously slowed the Russian advance. The Russians are dropping like flies due to tripping over the ruins in the bombed out cities. /sarc

That plant probably was damaged years ago, and not supplying any coke for steel since

The only manufacturing taking place in Ukraine at this point is probably small underground factories assembling drones

Ukraine really only exists in the minds of Azov gangsters running the government and their western controllers.

Tell me again how Russia is attacking Ukraine only for self-defense.

Who told you that?

After 15 years of warning from Russia, Ukraine is being destroyed and dismantled, piece-by-piece, so it can never be used as a base for NATO, can't ever again be a host for parasites like Hunter Biden or Blackrock, or ever be a stage again for Western neo-marxist color-revolution.

Russia hasn't finished the job yet, but its a lot closer to the end, than the beginning.

ell me again how Russia is attacking Ukraine only for self-defense.

Those in Donetsk and Lugansk have been fighting to defend their homeland for 10 years. And, those doing so are now Russian citizens.

Your sick neo-Nazi buddies got greedy. They weren't content to have everything but Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk for themselves so they decided to try an annihilate citizens there.

And, when NATO takes over a country on one's border and builds up a 600,000 man army and installs a puppet government that tries to cutoff access to an important naval base (in Crimea), that is grave national security threat.

Ukraine pledged, in its constitution, to political neutral and chose to be puppet state of NATO. That's on the greedy idiots and oligarchs that sold out the people of Ukraine.

Tell me again how Russia is attacking Ukraine only for self-defense.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine was not the unprovoked attack the war-enthusiasts pretend it was.

All NATO had to do to avoid the Russia conflict was keep its promise to refrain from expanding NATO.

It started in 1990 when James Baker promised Gorbachev that NATO would not expand one inch further eastward if Russia agreed to the reunification of Germany, thereby officially ending WW II.

https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/16117-document-06-record-conversation-between

Gorbachev agreed, but within four years NATO began expanding eastward anyway.

The Russian invasion occurred when NATO began teasing NATO membership for (Ukraine, whose name literally means "borderland" in Russian because it is on the border with Russia and has been the origin of numerous invasions of Russia in the past) and amassing weapons and troops there.

Harris went out and did that.

Yet, we have neocons and Zeepers defending that decision.

Anyone supporting this proxy war is as much the enemy as any Democrat.

I have to disagree with that.

I have yet to see how going back on one’s word, (even though it was President Bill Clinton’s Democrat administration that gave their word), will keep us out of war over Taiwan. If we abandon Ukraine, then which allies will ever trust us?

The USA already abandoned the country of Georgia when Russia invaded them, for example.

When the USA pledged security guarantees in exchange for Ukraine giving up nuclear weapons, then why would it be beneficial for the USA to not make good on its commitments? Will we have any allies if we keep giving up? Has it been good for us to show lack of resoluteness in the past, like in Vietnam?

Regrettably, Russia has been no friend of the USA. Russia has been invading its neighbors, imposing its will on other countries, and getting away with it. Now China intends to do the same. There is no such thing as a one-sided peace, when the enemy faction routinely commits acts of war.

If China gains a stranglehold in the so-called South China sea, the USA may well eventually find itself unable to defend itself nor its allies. Think it through, please.

Any government of an ally where a nationalist leader takes over.

The masses here and Europe and sick of pouring money into this war and, in the case of many European nations, sick of the suppression of cheap Russian gas and oil that is driving those nations inflation rate.

The war in Ukraine is one waged by and for the Western elite. Corrupt politicians like the Bidens, corrupt oligarchs like George Soros and other scum in WEF, corrupt corporations and the defense industry are the ones this war was started and is be continued for.

Russia seized Donbas with surrogate militias before there was any “referendum.” But keep believing the lies that you tell yourself if they help you to sleep at night, but do not expect anyone else to believe them.

Nonsense. The people of Donbass rebelled against the illegal coup in 2014 after a President they voted for overwhelmingly was driven out of office.

Proof of that was a shootout between Mariupol police and the Ukrainian nationalists that rolled in to takeover. And, that 39 people that organized a petition drive opposing the coup were locked into a trade building in Odessa and burned to death.

You have zero regard for the rights of the victims of illegal coup. You perfectly okay with Ukrainian nationalists and neo-Nazis persecuting and killing them.

I have no personal connection whatsoever to anyone in Ukraine or Russia.

But, I am disgusted by how corrupt and dirty our politicians and Deep State are.

The whole attempt to undermine Trump all along is because he wouldn't agree to fight the proxy war in Ukraine that Biden has. That makes what has gone on there my business. That and the fact we've wasted billions in tax dollars there.
