I worked in tech for over 40 years.

A white man.

Could always get a job. Now retired.

Ask yourself, how good are you really? Do you need to upgrade some credentials, or are you still riding on those you acquired in your first decade?

The issue is not the recruiters. The issue is the hiring manager.

The hiring manager wants a CCIE for $80k/yr who cannot move to another company for at least 3 years.

An American CCIE wants at least $200k...in Dayton OH, and $450 in Silicon Valley.

Regardless of what my particular skills are, hiring managers never see my skills. Because the Indians that have taken control of tech recruiting in the USA blacklist me because I am a white American. And even if they didn’t, many times the hiring manager is Indian also. It has now become a numbers game, which has a predictable outcome.
