I’m big on waiting until the dust settles - political manuvering is like war manuvers. Plus I like to see the big picture view. Trust comes into play as well. God knows the end result - sometimes it’s not yes or no but ‘wait’...things truly are not always what they seem.

Then we may need to replace the republican conference. Soon people will start coming to the realization, the republican party is the problem and needs to be replaced. A Unity Party made up of the Trump coalition and disaffected democrats is a very real possibility. Part of me hopes that the republican party self-destructs trying to oppose President Trump. Interesting times.

Exactly with all the talk of cutting spending including the Doge group why do we need to blow the cap?

Look...the 1500 page bill would have been turned down by a lot more than 38 Republicans...it would have been DOR.

The Dems got played. If they didn't pass the last 118 page bill, the shutdown would have been on them.

Mike said he was in touch with Trump every step of the way.

"THE ART OF THE DEAL"

> Come January 20th we take control of both houses so then no more excuses.

Zero excuses. I hope they know we are all watching and will hold their feet to the fire.

The President will keep his promises, and the GOP congress better go with his plans.

We voted them in for a reason. They violate our trust, and the GOP is toast.

Johnson’s problematic because always his natural inclination is “business as usual.” Thus, the original 1500 page outrage.

Johnson is about as good a speaker as we can get.

This is more a House problem and not a Johnson problem.

Well, Trump does want to increase “spending,” in as much as tax cuts count as spending in regard to the debt ceiling. Trump promised on the campaign trial to renew the huge tax cuts from his first term, cut the corporate tax rate to 15% for companies that produce product in the US, and to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security payments. If he wants to do these things, he 100% must have the debt ceiling raised.

Of course, he expects these will stimulate the economy and eventually bring in more revenue for the government than it cuts, but that’s besides the point that he still needs the debt ceiling raised initially.

The idea that a tax cut is counted as “spending” is in a word, retarded.

Now WE'RE supposed to support it? Just because Trump said so?

The problem is the "debt ceiling" requires "tax cuts" to be "paid for" withe $ for $ spending cuts which is an entirely ridiculous and stupid concept.

GET RID OF IT!!!

notably excludes President-elect Donald Trump’s demand for a debt ceiling increase

I guess you ( you are not alone ) don't get it. You don't understand MACRO economics. A generation ago some really ecomically retarded RINOs thought it was a good idea to require that in order to "pay for" tax cuts there would have to be $ for $ spending cuts in the budget.

This is crazy for two reasons: 1. tax cuts don't need to be "paid for" because IT'S OUR MONEY!!! 2. Cutting taxes INCREASES federal revenue.

This concept is going to prevent Trump from MAGA. Kill the debt ceiling!!!

The debt ceiling can wait til next year.

No! We need that silly ( and harmful) debt ceiling gone so Trump can cut income taxes on SS, overtime and other areas ( marginal rates )that the lower middle class needs today!!!
