President Trump announced last month that Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the external advisory committee, DOGE, which will “provide advice and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large scale structural reform, and create an entrepreneurial approach to Government never seen before.” Trump has said that the two will cut as much as $2 trillion in wasteful government spending annually.

Vivek Ramaswamy said on X, “Currently reading the 1,547-page bill to fund the government through mid-March. Expecting every U.S. Congressman & Senator to do the same.”

I always felt they should only be paid a per diem and lodging rate while in session for only a set number of days per year. The rest of the year they can go work their normal jobs.
