The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has confirmed that radioactive material was lost in transit earlier this month, heightening fears about public safety and sparking theories about mysterious drone activity in New Jersey.
Officer Lew, a prominent political commentator, highlighted the NRC’s event report during a review of regulatory alerts.
“While looking at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Alerts. I can confirm that there is radioactive material that has gone missing on Dec 2nd, 2024 out of New Jersey. This might be the reason for the drones… just speculation at this point,” he wrote.
The missing material, identified as a Ge-68 pin source manufactured by Eckert & Ziegler, was reported lost by its licensee on December 3, 2024. Shipped for disposal, the container arrived at its destination severely damaged and empty.
According to the NRC’s report, the radioactive source, while classified as “Less than IAEA Category 3,” still poses potential risks if mishandled or exposed for prolonged periods.
According to the report:
AGREEMENT STATE REPORT – SOURCE LOST IN TRANSIT
The following information was provided by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) via email:
“The licensee reported to NJDEP on December 3, 2024, that a Ge-68 pin source that they sent for disposal has been lost in transit on December 2, 2024. The source is a Eckert & Ziegler model HEGL-0132, with current approximate activity of 0.267 mCi. The shipping container arrived at its destination damaged and empty. The licensee has filed a claim with the shipper. If the source is not located within the 30 days, the licensee will follow-up with a full written report to include root cause(s) and corrective actions.
“This event is reportable under 10 CFR 20.2201(a)(1)(ii).”
New Jersey Event Report ID number: To be determined
THIS MATERIAL EVENT CONTAINS A ‘Less than Cat 3’ LEVEL OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL
Sources that are “Less than IAEA Category 3 sources,” are either sources that are very unlikely to cause permanent injury to individuals or contain a very small amount of radioactive material that would not cause any permanent injury. Some of these sources, such as moisture density gauges or thickness gauges that are Category 4, the amount of unshielded radioactive material, if not safely managed or securely protected, could possibly – although it is unlikely – temporarily injure someone who handled it or were otherwise in contact with it, or who were close to it for a period of many weeks.

C'mon. Get real. This is not what the drones are looking for.
I am convinced there is something going on—my latest hypothesis is that it is a nuclear power plant accident in IN or OH that they are keeping secret.
I think our .gov has degraded to the point that they would refuse to follow standard public safety protocols and would instead opt for secrecy.
We are becoming like the old Soviet Union—where they kept the Chernobyl disaster secret for as long as they could get away with it.
If we ever get to inauguration day, on day one trump needs to set up a commission to root out all the bad players in the past several years up to now throw thier a##es in jail like they did to the j6 until we are good and ready to send them to the gallows
Take a Xanax. That’s not what it said.
I wonder what the driver had to say.....
lets go brandon
Congrats on having a neighbor that you like ;-)
Yes. November 18th.
Thanks for this report!
Slow drip of partial, tiny truth to stop the legitimacy hemorrhaging.
There’s something much bigger than this out there that they’re looking for.
Watch how they’ll leak out a little more each day...
Cmon folks. This is a small amount of low level medical waste.
Not dirty bomb stuff.
Let’s move on.
Next?
I’m not surprised!
Even a pocket sized radiation detector like a radiacode will go nuts at someone who’s had radiation therapy passing by at speed in a motor vehicle, nevermind whatever much-more-sensitive instruments they must be using at a border crossing!
WHAT? What? Are they saying medical grade type radioactive crap is being sent to our country to be dispose of? That's an outrage all by itself. OK, this story line would stop panic, but is there any chance this is the issue with hundreds and thousans of sniffing drones?
earlier this month? December? the drone sightings started earlier, in November.
So, now you know who owns the drones, and what they are looking for.
Our military and 'intelligence' are aware of what's happening but don't want to 'alarm' the little people because THEY'RE so much braver than us?
Liberal domestic terrorists took radioactive material off a shipping container (that was destined for disposal) and plan on spreading it around areas Trump might be? Golf courses? Buildings, Maralago, the DC inauguration?
And the story covers for Biden and his goons who are trying to cause as much damage as they can to the country before being kicked out of the White House? Maybe that's it.
FWIW, I worked in fossil fuel power plant construction back in the 1970s. The main steam, hot reheat and high pressure feedwater lines were very heavy-walled piping consisting of 2.25% chrome alloy. All those welds were radiographed (NDE) to check for flaws. They would check these welds at night when there were no workers to be accidentally exposed. They wrapped xray film on the outside of the pipe weld and used a strong Cobalt-60 radiation source. It was pill-shaped, fastened to a wire lead that was cranked out of a lead-lined box into where the weld was to expose the film....worked great. Except one night, the pill got hung up somewhere and got lost.
They shut the job down looking for it for days and never found it even though they used, what was then, high tech detectors of that day.
A laborer was sweeping up debris several weeks later and happened to see it, didn’t know what it was, put in his pocket, and took it home. He exposed his entire family to radiation, and IIRC, he passed away from the exposure and entire family suffered from severe radiation exposure.
Some of that, although physically small, stuff is definitely not to be played with.
Imagine how much radioactive material all those drug mules (or Chinese) have been carrying across the border all this time.
