Trump's Scathing Wall Street Journal Takedown Shows Why We're Glad 'Mean Tweets' Are Back
Red State ^ | 12/04/2024 | Jennifer Oliver O'Connell

Since Elon Musk changed the name of "Twitter" to X, and President-elect Donald Trump mostly posts on Truth Social, his own social media platform, technically his ripostes can no longer be termed "Mean Tweets." But thanks to his epic win on November 5, whatever we want to call them now, Mean Tweets are back on the menu.

The Wall Street Journal has been having a normal one this week. First, by dropping a thinly-sourced, concern-trolling piece that Trump may be replacing the embattled Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday.

The Wall Street Journal is fake news.

The second drop on Wednesday morning had WSJ reporting that DEA Administrator nominee -- Hillsborough, Florida, County Sheriff Chad Chronister -- withdrew his nomination, a story which we covered Tuesday night. They tried to lump this in with Hegseth's woes as an indication of trouble in Trumpworld:

The Wall Street Journal, having a normal one.

Trump’s pick to run the Drug Enforcement Administration withdrew and his selection for defense secretary is facing growing skepticism from some GOP senators https://t.co/9Y8dtmEhYw via @WSJ— Jennifer Oliver O'Connell (@asthegirlturns) December 4, 2024

WASHINGTON—Donald Trump’s pick to run the Drug Enforcement Administration withdrew and his selection for defense secretary faced growing skepticism from some GOP senators, marking the latest challenges to the president-elect’s efforts to staff his second term’s top positions.

Trump immediately responded, showing that there's no insult like the TRUTH.

The Wall Street Journal is becoming more and more obnoxious and unreadable. Today’s main headline is: “Trump’s DEA Pick Pulls Out In Latest Setback.” With all that’s happening in the World, this is their Number One story of the day. Besides, he didn’t pull out, I pulled him out, because I did not like what he said to my pastors and other supporters. But, more importantly, what’s my “latest” setback??? I just won the Presidency of the United States! They haven’t written a good story about me in YEARS. Somebody over there ought to look at what they’re doing. The only one worse than them is stupid, China-centric Forbes Magazine!

Ouch! That's bound to leave a mark.

The typically convenient use of allied media to drive the narrative on Trump and help control the happenings on Capitol Hill appears to be failing miserably. While these outlets are struggling to make an impression and doing their best to shape viewpoints, thanks to X, Truth Social, and new media outlets and MAGA allies, they have not risen above the noise before being knocked down or redirected by a perfectly timed Truth from Trump.

So, a troubling aspect of Trump 45 is now the hallmark of Trump 47. We have a president who not only fights for the American people, but fights for the mandate for which he was elected, and this includes his nominees, appointments, and how they are covered. After four years of a dementia puppet who couldn't even talk to the press, it's nice to see a sentient adult back in charge and clearly at the helm, as evidenced by his active, rapid, and always entertaining responses.

It’s GOOD to be delivered from the verbal diarrhea of the senile child-molesting puppet who was pretending to be the “president” for four years.

Mean Truths, obviously.

Damn straight!

And in my adult lifetime, I don’t recall *any* President that has been as consequential in the RUN-UP to inauguration day! I look forward to watching the transformation towards MAGA that WILL happen come Jan. 20!

It would be cool if President Trump stopped tweeting altogether and just got down to business. Go all Silent Cal on the media. And think of the history of it. Calvin Cooledge was the President in 1924. His philosophy was that the business of America was business. I think President Trump is very aware of that fact.

I'm old enough to remember when it was RUDE to talk publicly about the sex lives of people in politics, specifically certain females whose breakfast often consisted of the man-yogurt of a certain Willie Brown.

Remember those days?

It's almost like it was only a month ago...

Yeah, how ‘bout NO!

I think I will trust, after all he has gone through, President Trump over you!

"Trump" and "silent" will never appear in the same sentence.

What more do you want him to do? He almost works ‘round the clock now. “Tweeting” is a mind break and change of pace. It has a purpose.

I disagree. All Republican presidents before Trump choose this strategy and see where it brought them. The era of simply say nothing has passed. This is war, be it on the policy front or on the public perception front. Conservatives have abandoned so many areas (education, media, culture, etc.) thinking that it is uncouth to reply any accusations throw at them. As a result, those vacuum areas were occupied solely by the left. A perferct suicidal strategy.

Having said that, it’s true that not all issues should be replied by Trump himself. Some issues should be left to his allies to address.

Why? Doesn’t he have a duty to set the record straight?

George Bush didn’t fight back, he just said “history will be the judge.” Wrong answer. The electorate were the judge in 2006 when he lost the House and Senate, and crippled the party heading into 2008.

Yep, attacking the media straight on and forcefully is one of his most likeable and endearing characteristics :)

If you are America First,

then the Aussie born Murdoch and ALL his holdings are your enemy.

Unlike Soros, this gang pretends to be your friend and “conservative”.

Murdoch and crew is TRULY the enemy of the people.

Faux News fanboys take note.

I was trying to find out why DEA nominee changed but I obviously missed this - “I pulled him out, because I did not like what he said to my pastors and other supporters”

What is the back story on that?
