The Trump team's plan to resuscitate a dead oil project

Donald Trump is looking to revive the Keystone XL oil pipeline on his first day back in the White House, according to three people familiar with the president-elect’s plan, even though no companies are trying to build it anymore.

Trump believes declaring the 1,200-mile Canada-to-Nebraska crude project back on the table would drive the pro-oil message he delivered in his campaign, said people involved in the transition team discussions about the idea. Trump also wants to show he can defy President Joe Biden, who reversed Trump’s initial 2017 approval of the project, which was strongly opposed by the climate movement.

Trump's heart is in the right place. But the article points out that things have certainly changed in the last 4 years, and it might not be an easy project to restart.

“...and it might not be an easy project to restart.”

We’re talking TRUMP, so anything is possible.

Looks for Dems to blow it up to make it harder for Trump to rebuild.

But Trump can get it done.

I think Alaska is likely the first place to go. Open it up. The first pipeline harmed nothing environmentally.

Biden doubled the cut the USA gets when on Federal land. Since they pay taxes on income, let's take a look at what's going on. Is the government double dipping?

In 2021, Germany produced 7 million cars. In 2022, Dems blew up both Nordstream gas pipelines to Germany. In 2024, Germany is on pace to make 4 million cars.

Last week, even the left-wing Guardian agrees with me and says something has gone wrong with German car production:

Germany’s car industry is losing its famous Vorsprung

The F’n Biden Administration did everything they could to to destroy the Keystone pipeline and salt the earth so it could never be re started.

It will be a very tough slog to get it going again and the risk that new Democrat administration comes in and shuts it down again is too much of a risk.

The world needs heavy oil and only a few have it. Canada has lots of heavy oil. But it doesn’t have a lot of refining capacity. The US doesn’t have heavy oil but has a lot of refining capacity. ECO 101 says ship it south.

Why can’t someone somewhere just build a new oil refinery?! Or maybe build several new oil refineries?!!!

I don’t care if we have to repurpose some money allocated for the Green New Scam to subsidize Keystone XL in order to get it built. DO IT. Get this built. Do whatever it takes. Its important that we build this and shove it down the Gaia Worshipers’ throats.

I attribute the reduction to other factors. Global slowing of economy, producing cars no one wants, due to mandates by left wing governments and “climate freaks”
I drive older Porsches, for their visceral, rear engine growl, oversteer, and primal sports car feel.
An electric, servo operated, airbag hauler doesn’t interest me in the least.

Negatory. Get it built. Even if you have to subsidize its construction, get it built. Its a test of wills at this point. Once the pipeline is built, it will be impossible to stop. Sure, a future administration could order the oil flowing through it to stop, but then the next administration could order it to restart. The key is to get it built at all costs.

Take a wild guess. Gaia Worshipers have passes all sorts of regulations to make it nearly impossible. Those must obviously be repealed and more refineries need to be built.

All Trump can do is approve the permit. There still has to be a private company willing to invest the capital. Projects like that require a 30 plus year operational life to recover a return on investment. We’ll see if any company is willing to take that risk.

I think vehicle repossessions plays a part in that. I heard the other day that 1 in 4 people are upside down on their car loans. Lots of people simply have stopped paying on their loans or turned the keys into the banks. A lot of those vehicles are being held on commercial lots like Copart. Currently the cars are not being resold. But eventually something has got to give. Either the banks are gonna go under or the cars are gonna be sold for a fraction of what the bank has in them, or both. When that starts to happen the used car market will be in a serious glut. And the new car market will be forced to slow production. Any way it shakes out it’s gonna be a mess.

“”We’re talking TRUMP, so anything is possible.””

I recently heard President Trump talking about a New York ice skating rink. When some of President Trump’s chicken were young, there was an ice skating rink that was “under construction” for over 10 years. Once Donald Trump took over, the rink was finished in less than 6 months. He had the nerve to seek out real experts, and got the job done!
