I do not use and have never used Edge. I knew from the start that it would be a propaganda organ. I don’t use Google either. There are other search engines that don’t try to steer the user politically.

I run military grade security. And some custom stuff that includes some nastiness for hackers (I’m a White Hat but have a dark edge when pushed). Again, not worried about me. Was more of a heads-up for others. Also Microsoft annoyed me with their junk on the Edge landing page so wanted to expose them. Apparently worked. Their landing page now is not anti-Trump. First time in months.

I use Brave exclusively on my phone. Due to its built in advert blocker. On my Windows computers, I use these with uBlock Origin, ad blocker-—
Chrome
Edge
Brave
Opera
Duck-Duck-Go
Lolzz...... Not all at the same time. But each serve a purpose.

I often use Edge and Bing. When I open a new tab I land on the MSN start page. The news there is left-right balanced. News from Fox is often there.

When I dive into a news article, the comments are usually dominated by the left and the loony brainwashed left. Which is my real complaint. But it’s a sight to see how loony and Trump hating they are. Too many C19 boosters probably!

Exactly. Techs used to be libertarian (which I can definitely understand) and mostly uninvolved. Now they’re tyranny fellators.

How do you stop Edge starting up?

Unsure which Windows release you have but not much difference, Go to Edge and turn every off everything like weather, search bars, links, tabs, bookmarks, etc. so it can’t do any work behind the scenes, clean cache etc. If you see ‘repair’ anywhere don’t do it. I’m sure you can google it and get many more suggestions too, hacking the registry is possible but only for very advanced users.

Also download install another browser, some like Brave and others, I much prefer Opera however the new version is pretty flashy and fast, a bit much for many people but you can turn modules off. The important part is to install a new browser brand first, and the program will ask you to “make it” default and say yes and then reboot.

“... all of my browsers to have a blank start/home page ...”

It is simple to set up a web server on your computer, both Windows and Linux - can’t comment on Macs.
It is fairly trivial to set up a simple home page with a few links to search engines and ‘go to’ sites.
It is usually the second thing I do after installation. First I update, then I install the web server.
An advantage to having your own home page in your home is that any phone or computer can use the IP of that based computer for a home page, too.
Every time I open a browser, I see precisely what I want to see. And ONLY what I want to see. Cheers!
