President-elect Donald Trump has picked Republican Representative Mike Waltz to be his national security adviser, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday, tapping a retired Army Green Beret who has been a leading critic of China. Waltz, a Trump loyalist who also served in the National Guard as a colonel, has criticized Chinese activity in the Asia-Pacific and has voiced the need for the United States to be ready for a potential conflict in the region.

From the House? Yeah, let’s take our quality House reps and risk having someone less qualified.

DeSantis pick for his replacement. Pam Bondi would work.

Reps it’s an election. Senators are picked by Gov to fill out rest of term.

Hard to find but there is a website that evaluates congress critters on their support for Ukraine.

He seems to have a D- grade. Not strong support.

Wouldn’t they have a special election in heavily Republican areas?

Wrong, Tim will be the men’s rest room attendant in the White House , and he will be tasked with handing out tampons.

> DeSantis pick for his replacement. <

Governors get to pick replacements for Senate vacancies. But the Constitution requires a special election for House vacancies.

This makes the president appointing a House member to a position risky. I sure could see the Democrats pouring huge amounts of money into special elections to try to flip the House.

But if the member is in a very safe district, it would be another story.

Mike Waltz... needless to say, no relation
to a certain Timothy James Walz of Minnesota.

That helps. Waltz represents DeSantis old district in FL.

Waltz won by a 66-33 margin, so I think it’s a pretty safe district for a special election.
