What a powerful affirmation that election must have been for Reagan and his decades of working toward his vision.
Then came Reagan’s 1986 Amnesty.
My first vote was a good one.
Yeah, I miss the days when if your administration was horrible, the states you usually would expect to win became “in play”, and would more than likely, lose them.
Yes a political blunder and then came the end of the deadly and soul draining Cold War, the freeing of Eastern European millions and the birth of Republican identity in America as the GOP took the Congress after almost 50 years with Gingrich and his crew, followed by Palin and the Tea party, and then Trump.
If you remember the 60s and 70s things were looking pretty dismal for conservative Americans and liberals Nixon and Ford didn’t help, but Reagan broke things ups and interjected the right and Christian energy into the Republican Party which has been wrestling with the rinos ever since.

Liberal media changed that, in order to confuse west coast voters.

1980 was the last election where there were still many people watching on black and white TVs.
Pardon moi, but we all were watching Monday Night Football on a color TV in 1971 - including while out on the ocean “working for the defense dept.”
Rarely saw a Black & White . . . until I bought a little one for the kitchen, because the TV was about $28 from Service Merchanise.

The map graphics were hilariously bad back then.
Lol.
I went without TV for 4+ years in Germany (77-81), too far from the base. While at Hahn, it was 12 miles. Spangdahlem was 30 miles from my apartment. Reading and creating cassette tapes occupied my time. Didn’t miss it at all.
“I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent’s youth and inexperience,”
Ronald Reagan
In the year 2000 I gave up on trying to listen to the TV news shows on a radio with TV channels, so I bought a 13 inch color
tv to listen to, color was something new for me.
