I love Sabine’s youtube episodes. Quirky humor and a very intelligent scientist. Comments on and explains a variety of interesting subjects in everyday terms.
With the assumption that information cannot be destroyed...
Well........in the current nonsensical, woke vernacular “I identify as immortal.” Math or no math, “I am what I am.”
Roger Penrose thinks that consciousness occurs as a quantum wave form collapse. So the soul itself exists as something like a quantum waveform (my words, not his), written in the fabric of space-time itself. Sort of like the aliens in the Space Odyssey books (not the movies). But who can say—quantum mechanics is like an ocean, and we only understand a few drops of it.
Sabine has an independent streak which I admire. She is her own person.
She has been pummeled for years for her position that String Theory is a dead end going nowhere. She essentially lost her job and now is relegated to hosting a youtube channel as I understand.
I guess I’m unclear as to how information can have existence in and of itself - it seems to me that information must be associated with some sort of medium - a piece of paper with markings on it, an electromagnetic signal, a collection of neurons, a set of semiconductor units, whatever.
Atheism is a religion.
Curt Jaimungel has an amazing youtube channel discussing all these issues—philosophy, science, math, physics, ufos—with a wide variety of interesting folks.
The experts love beating up each other on the subject of string theory.

Warning—there are a thousand videos here!
(Unfortunately there is no Rumble version.)
There is a lot of mush in there, all the usual confusion of philosophy, physics, and quantum elements which are popoular today.
BTW she isn’t really giving hope for anything we would think of as “immortality” or life after death.
A mix of the big bang, “consciousness”, quantum measurement, predeterminism, “information”, your atoms spreading all over the universe (unlikely).
Modern physics is hopelessly lost.
“Modern physics is hopelessly lost.”
I consider that statement both true and good news.
That means they are learning some humility—the hard way.
Nature is really really complex.
Confusion means they are starting to get that.
I’ll check him out. Eric Weinstein is another of these independent minded thinkers out there.
He is an economist and mathematician not a physicist yet he knows quite a bit about physics and a host of subjects. He’s pretty decent at sifting through the BS and worth a listen. He does love to listen to himself talk though. :-)
What we think of as Life, disappears at the moment of death. Like turning off a light. The light isn’t aware that it isn’t on. And life for everyone else just goes on.
I have had similar thoughts before, just in my own untrained, math-phobic pedestrian mind. The quantum waveforms are what eventually ‘freeze’, solidify and become our fingerprints, our very own Product Barcode.
BS
Physics is not the same as atheism. Quantum Physics says (mathematically) knowledge lives on. Matter cannot be destroyed, only changed. I am convinced we live in a computer simulation. This does not mean I am an atheist. Also it does not conflict with the Bible. What we see here is temporary, what comes next is permanent. Heaven is not only permanent but it is in perfect order. Something we cannot wrap our heads around. Physics is only glimpsing the intricate and complex universe we live in and find we are hopelessly overwhelmed by it. God is eternal and has always existed and we cannot understand that, or at least I cannot but I know what it is true.
Help stamp out entropy!
