With the nation short millions of housing units, a homebuilding boom has led to a billionaire boom, which isn’t likely to slow down anytime soon. Forbes found at least 12 new billionaires or billionaire families in the homebuilding industry, like Tom Bradbury of Smith Douglas Homes, three members of Lennar Corp.’s Miller family and GL Homes’ Itzhak Ezratti.

Exactly. Rampant immigration is leading to more demand for housing.
This housing boom is for the illegal aliens, NOT THE AMERICANS. This crap will be leased out for the illegals with government taxpayer dollars. It’s sick.
Why, it's almost like the US population has suddenly surged.
But our birth rate is just below replacement, so the natives aren't demanding new houses. And the Baby Boomers are croaking and freeing up the houses they owned and lived in for decades.
I tell you, it's a mystery.

Not exactly, though government money for housing is part of it. My thought is that more people = more demand for housing = higher prices for housing even if there's an increase in supply of housing (builders). So in a nation that's supposedly experiencing a birth rate below replacement levels, without rampant immigration we wouldn't have higher demand for housing. So when I see that people are making billion$ as home builders my first thought is that I wish there wasn't so much demand for homes (because I wish there weren't as many illegal immigrants).

Somehow I just knew DR Horton would show up on that list. After ruining the towns next to me, they got approval (during CoVid lockdowns) to build 2500 new homes here in my little town of 10,000. They wanted to build apartments, but we already have our share of those.
Every single person that voted for the “planned development” was voted off of town council in subsequent elections.
I expect I will see my little town disappear in 5 years. We will have an influx of “migrants” that won’t want to assimilate.
A common theme and I feel your pain. Godspeed.
