On September 9, 2024, the murder trial of Gerald Goines started in Houston, Texas, more than five years after the killings. The former Houston Police officer, undercover officer, and narcotics squad leader, was charged with the murders of Dennis Tuttle and Rhogena Nickolas.
During the hearing on Monday, Goines’ defense team acknowledged that the former officer had fabricated a story about a confidential informant purchasing heroin from the couple’s home, but claimed that the murder charges were excessive — “a case of overcharging,” according to attorney Nicole Deborde Hochglaube, who’s representing Goines.
After opening statements, prosecutors questioned Sarah Sanchez, who had lived on Harding Street during the incident and was close with both Tuttle and Nicholas.
Prosecutors questioned Sanchez about Patricia Garcia, a neighbor who made three 911 phone calls on the evening of Jan. 8, 2019, in which she told police that her daughter was doing heroin inside the couple’s home and that the couple were drug dealers and had guns inside their home.
Investigators eventually found that Garcia had no daughter and that her other claims were also false. She was the first person to be sentenced in connection with the deadly raid in June 2021.
“She was always fighting with Rhogena, always jealous of Rhogena,” Sanchez said during Monday’s hearing. “She was very hateful.”

This dirty cop should’ve been fired and prosecuted years ago.
FTA; “Since the Harding Street raid, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has overturned at least 22 convictions that were based on Goines’ plainly unreliable word. Those cases, like this one, featured imaginary drug purchases that Goines used to obtain search warrants, sometimes citing the same confidential informant. For years, drug defendants had complained that Goines was framing them, but no one took them seriously.
Goines’ dishonesty went beyond fictional transactions. His search warrant applications frequently described guns that were never found. Over 12 years, The Houston Chronicle reported, Goines obtained nearly 100 no-knock warrants, almost always claiming that informants had seen firearms in the homes he wanted to search. But he reported recovering guns only once—a suspicious pattern that no one seems to have noticed.”
None of the official members of the raid wore body cameras.
I wonder why?
You didn’t read it, did you. The cop lied to get the no knock warrant
I don’t understand why people don’t read the article if you got questions.
It is very suspicious. Randomly, more than half of households in Texas have guns. 100 no knock warrants, guns recovered only once, statistical odds of trillions to one.
The most likely explanation is the guns existed, but were not officially "recovered". Instead they were directed into the black or grey market, providing extra income to the dirty police officers.
Yes,I did see that he had filed a false request for a warrant. That,to me,surely works against him.
"During the hearing on Monday, Goines’ defense team acknowledged that the former officer had fabricated a story about a confidential informant..."
These are conflicting statements...they can't both be true.
Yes the neighbor is in prison.
They shot the dog, bastards.
Gestapo needs to be put down , just like the dog was.
Undercover cops, some with 20+ years and this happens ? They need to be put down too.
Oh yeah,
The evil demon neighbor Garcia should have gotten 20 years for this. Instead she got less than 2 yrs., being in a protected class.
Seems dumb to have no knock warrants for a drug dealer. Get him as he walks out the door or get a traditional warrant. And the lying in this case is gross. Hopefully the liars also get charged with murder to.
I think the report was that there were kids doing heroin in that house. If true that’s pretty damn serious. And IIRC the woman who called in a false report has already been convicted.
That’s good. It’s a shame we have another bad cop. Now at least 120 drug dealers are back on the street from prior events. Maybe not all of them were guilty, but some definitely were.

From Gay State Conservative:

Could you explain why you think they both can't be true?
Consider the fabricated confidential informant could be (and was) different than the neighbor.
Events can have multiple causes.
The neighbor claimed her daughter was doing heroin at the address.
However, she did not have a daughter. Her "daughter" was just a fiction to be used as a weapon against the neighbors.
Or the neighbors lied but the information provided was insufficient for any warrant so the officer made up information that either adding information or a different source that did not exist to get the warrant.
Both can be true.
Sounds like conspiracy to murder to me. Neighbor should be in prison for a long long time.
The sentencing guidelines were for less than two years for the charges. She managed to get 3 years 4 months.
