ARAB SLAVE TRADE
While the Goliath Arab Islamic slave trade was immense and its lingering effects and discrimination are still in various areas:
Arab slave trade covers various periods in which a slave trade has been carried out under the auspices of Arab peoples or Arab countries.
Such as:
- Al-Andalus slave trade.
- Barbary slave trade.
- Trans-Saharan slave trade.
- Indian Ocean slave trade.
- Comoros slave trade.
- Zanzibar slave trade.
- Ottoman slave trade.
- Red Sea slave trade.

Unfortunately these racist attitudes were to persist, given slavery's twin legacy, that of Arabism and Islamism.

A comprehensive study of the Eastern slave trade by an eminent British scholar
A companion volume to The Black Diaspora, this groundbreaking work tells the fascinating and horrifying story of the Islamic slave trade. Islam's Black Slaves documents a centuries-old institution that still survives, and traces the business of slavery and its repercussions from Islam's inception in the seventh century, through its history in China, India, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Libya, and Spain, and on to Sudan and Mauritania, where, even today, slaves continue to be sold.
Ronald Segal reveals for the first time the numbers involved in this trade--as many millions as were transported to the Americas--and explores the differences between the traffic in the East and the West.
Islam's Black Slaves also examines the continued denial of the very existence of this sector of the black diaspora, although it survives today in significant numbers; and in an illuminating conclusion, Segal addresses the appeal of Islam to African-American communities, and the perplexing refusal of Black Muslim leaders to acknowledge black slavery and oppression in present-day Mauritania and Sudan.
A fitting companion to Segal's previous work, Islam's Black Slaves is a fascinating account of an often unacknowledged tradition, and a riveting cross-cultural commentary.
Farrakhan, racist of "the white man is the devil", disliking history and facts, have tried, for years to rewrite.
Facts:
1. No case can ever diminish the Arab Islamic Goliath slave trade.
2. Some of the Cripto Jews got into all trades by the Christian culture they were aligned with.
3. In all, the part that Jews played in the Christian or Islamic slave trade was minimal as research shows.

Faber found during his more recent scholarly research with British Naval Office records that in 18th-century Britain, Jews actually were not heavily invested in the trading part of the slave trade. “Overwhelmingly,” Faber said, “Jewish merchants and shippers were not involved at all; they represent a minuscule portion of owners of ships.” While Jews did own slaves, he found, “their ownership was directly proportionate to their numbers.” Both were about 18 percent. The two companies with slaving ventures had small numbers of Jews among their owners: The Royal Africa Company had none until 1712, and the South Sea Company always had a handful of Jews, ..Faber says.
The numbers just aren’t there to support the view,” said Faber. “Jews were involved, but to an insignificant degree. That doesn’t absolve them of that guilt, but everyone made money off African slaves: Arabs, Europeans, Africans,” he said. “And there was no attempt to deny it...”
And indeed, most black intellectuals were never convinced by The Secret Relationship. “You can’t even say that Christians across the board were slave-traders!” said Hilary Shelton, Washington bureau director and senior vice president for Advocacy for the NAACP. “There is not a religion that doesn’t have someone doing some dastardly thing. Did you know that in Ku Klux Klan’s handbook, it states specifically that one must be a devout Catholic? And this is problematic for the relationship between the two communities, which has been so important to us...

…to the extent that Jewish people were involved in the transatlantic slave trade, it was not only in finance, and not even disproportionately in finance. The fact that only financing is mentioned plays into the stereotype that Jews are always behind the scenes, controlling the money. While the fact that any Jews were involved in the slave trade makes my blood run cold, it can hardly be said to constitute “the Jewish nation … financing [sic] the slave ships.”
Why do people think “the Jews” [sic] financed the slave trade? Some of the chief proponents of this idea have been Louis Farrakhan and Leonard Jefferies [sic].
The Nation of Islam, under the leadership of Farrakhan, wrote a pseudo-scholarly book entitled, The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews, which is devoted to this topic. This book picks sources to show any Jews who were involved in the slave trade, and then carefully doesn’t mention the scale at which these people were involved — which was a tiny fraction of the whole.
The book leaves out mention of other groups involved in kidnapping, torturing, selling, and owning Black human beings, including indigenous groups in America, Black African leaders, and other ethnic and racial groups. I do not write this to excuse or minimize any involvement by anyone of any race in this horrific crime. My point is that this book takes one of the worst crimes in human history, and pins it on “the Jews” by virtue of the actions of a tiny minority of people involved.
This kind of collective scapegoating is never acceptable or moral. It is hardly surprising however, since Farrakhan is an outspoken antisemite. His list of public antisemitic remarks is too long to list here, but suffice it to say that “termites” is one of the nicer names he has for Jews.
Leonard Jefferies [sic] was a professor at the City College of New York, who in 1993 gave a now infamous lecture in which he asserted, among other things, “Everyone knows rich Jews helped finance the slave trade.” When Jefferies [sic] gave a version of this lecture at Harvard, and was questioned by a student regarding historical records that do not show Jewish ownership or control in the companies who engaged in enslaving Black people for profit, he replied that the investments were “secret.”
Because these allegations align with pre-existing antisemitic tropes about Jews (that Jews are secretly controlling everything), they reinforce what many people already believe. This makes them memorable, and credible to people who are exposed to them. It also means that people are inclined to accept them, regardless of the lack of evidence….
Essentially the same story is told in the Jules Verne book “Dick Sands, Captain at 15” and the biography of Catholic St. Bakhita, who latter was ritually scarred on her back by her Turkish owneress, then refused to return to Africa to care for her Italian owner’s daughter because her conversion to Catholicism was incomplete.
When being transported overland by foot, chained together, if a slave fell ill, she would be taken out of sight of the group, but they could hear her being beaten to death.

The very first scene of “Roots” was a lie, portraying White Europeans capturing Kunta Kinte while he was frolicking in the forest. It was MUSLIMS who captured and enslaved Blacks in Gambia and sold them to Europeans. Alex Haley even portrayed Kinte (his supposed ancestor) as a Muslim himself...a complete fraud, among many lies that were exposed later.
I tried to read it (”Arab Muslim World Architect of Slave Trade in Africa.”) on Google books but pages are not avaliable.
In the 19th Century the largest collection of slaves were congregated in zaribas in the southern Sudan and controlled
by Zubeir Pasha. They could be moved to Egypt, to the Red Sea, or even into Libya. The black slaves were numbered in the tens of thousands.

Ezra Stiles, a friend of Lopez, was present that day and recorded his observations. After several felons—thieves and arsonists—were sentenced to hang, Lopez’s appeal was heard. “The Jews” Stiles recorded, “were called to hear their almost equally mortifying sentence and Judgment: which dismissed their Petition for Naturalization.” The court when on say:
Further by the charter granted to this colony, it appears that the free and quiet enjoyment of the Christian religion and a desire of propagating the same were the principal views with which this colony was settled, and by a law made and passed in the year 1663, no person who does not profess the Christian religion can be admitted free [that is, as a voter or office holder] to this colony
Stiles mused on the verdict: “I remark that Providence seems to make every Thing to work for Mortification to the Jews, & to prevent their incorporating into any Nation; that thus they may continue a distinct people.” Lopez, however, found himself less contemplative about the matter. Having exhausted the possibilities in Rhode Island, he successfully applied for naturalization in Massachusetts in 1762.

Enslavement in the Ottoman Empire is important because the Ottoman Empire was the most important Islamic power between the mid-fifteenth to the late nineteenth century. Its territory stretched at its peak from the western Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf and from southern Poland to southern Sudan.
The numbers involved in Ottoman enslavement were considerable. From the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, the two major reservoirs of imported slave labour were the Ukrainian steppe (from where about 2 million people were drawn) or from the Mediterranean (from where 1.5 million people came to Ottoman lands). In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the major sources of slavery were Caucasians, mainly from Circassia and Georgia, as well as Africans, from the Nile Valley. Footnote 122
