On Wednesday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics will downward revise jobs for the April 2023-March 2024 period by up to 1 million. This means that all "beats" recorded in the past year will have been misses and the US job market is in far worse shape than the admin would admit.

I don’t understand the big deal..Democrats have always increased the projected numbers or decreased them so they always had room to adjust them when the real ones came in. Not rocket science. They always knew none were on target...

When I heard that the numbers had been revised downward, I thought it was for one month. Now I see that it is 1 million jobs over the course of a year. Has every month been revised downward? Additionally net jobs have increased for foreign born workers and decreased for American born workers. The majority of new jobs have been part time jobs as well.
It’s time for Trump’s graph maker to make one that illustrates these facts. A colorful diagram like the one he has about immigration is very easy to understand, much moreso than words.
I hope that the people who have been personally affected by this horrible job market realize that it is the fault of the Biden administration and so they will vote for Trump

Why am I not surprised?!
No real surprise here. In fact this is regularly normal procedure. All these statistics get adjusted in a few months when all the available data is in and more thoroughly analyzed. Frankly, the final numbers are usually, but not always, lower.
Two things stand out here. First, new jobs is only one indicator; there is unemployment, gross national product, consumer price index, a whole group of 'leading indicators'. Taken as an universe all together an adjustment can make quite a difference, even indicate a boom or a recession.
That brings up point #2; if employment - new jobs - is significantly misfigured, what about the other indicators? If they are all significantly miscounted, IS THE GOVT HIDING AN IMPORTANT TRUTH? In this instance the answer is probably: 'Yes!'
I finally heard one economist state recently that the middle class has been in a recession for some time. Many in the 'middle class' have realized this for some time! They just have not been allowed to say it. A major election is coming up and it seems likely that this major 'adjustment' was not intended to be revealed until after the election. Something or someone forced a wheel to come off of the chuck wagon!
