The mocking of Last Supper in the Opening Ceremonies were pure trash, this story is what the Olympics are all about, a self-described nerd who has a personal record of solving a Rubik's Cube in under 9 seconds, has one job in gymnastics, the pommel horse and did so yesterday in a clutch performance that gave the bronze medal to the USA team, their first medal since 2008.

The olympics are not about athletes anymore. Liberals have trashed a once great institution yet again; everything from insulting and demeaning their host nations to mocking religions.
Not a single person I know gives a care about the liberal olympic gathering anymore.
That’s fine, trash it if you want, the USA team this year has a number of really great athletes that are just normal people that compete in sports that no one really follows, they are not spoiled millionaires, they are true athletes competing and doing a great job representing the country.
This is guy is something special along with a woman I saw on the women’s rugby team that broke off a long run with a few seconds remaining to win a medal for the USA for the first time in Olympics history.
I choose to root for Americans who are not spoiled millionaires who are out there competing their hearts out and doing a great job of representing the country.
“trash it if you want,”
I didn’t trash it. The “athletes” and organizers did. Don’t shoot the messenger.
Normal people shouldn’t put up with the mockery. Any decent person should have refused to complete after the celebration of perversion that was opening day. He should have walked away. He is selling his soul for a chance at a medal.
I’m not watching, I do want to know who the advertisers are so I can, if possible, avoid them
“The olympics are not about athletes anymore” is your exact quote.
They’re plenty of example of the Olympic games being about athletes, this guy is one, countless others exist.
If you choose not to watch, that’s fine I choose to watch those athletes doing the right things and representing the country in a proper way.
This guy I posted about, he’s competed his entire life to win a medal at the Olympics, he achieved his goal and is a wonderful story, I choose watch stories like this not dismiss the entire thing over a bunch of insane liberals. It’s easy to say he’s selling his sole for a medal when it’s not your life that has been competing for one chance to win a medal.
There has been all sorts of that type of behavior going back a long time, you could go back to 1936 and Jesse Owens winning 4 gold medals, saluting the flag while winning one gold medal while the German who he defeated was giving the heil Hitler salute.
All sorts of bad things have been brought into the Olympic Games, that doesn’t wipe out all the great things that happen, like the guy I posted about.
I never watch men’s gymnastics or women’s rugby both sports had great American moments in the last couple of days, I choose to celebrate them versus dwelling on the negative.
Boycott the Olympics. Unfortunately the athletes are the ones that suffer.
Nope, no NBC olympics for me, and I used to love watching the olympics, winter and summer. I hate Comcast/NBC so much I refuse to watch them for even a second.
Well, la-di-da for you and your games...
I’ll never watch NBC again until they get rid of... Well... Everybody currently there, along with the communist prks running Comcast.
Good for him. He still should have walked out.
There things more important than an athletic career.
25 “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but [c]forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every person according to his [d]deeds.”
Matthew 16:25-27 NASB
That’s fine but some great American people and stories are happening right now
It’s easy to say when you are not the person giving up on your lifetime dream and he was part of a team sport and would have screwed his teammates and virtually no one would do that
They’re a lot of great Americans at the Olympics representing the country properly and I chose to root for them especially those competing in sports for the love of the game not NBA or WNBA spoiled brats
“that doesn’t wipe out all the great things that happen”
Ever hear the phrase, “One Aw-Sh*t! wipes out 100 Atta-Boys”?
You sound like, “Gee, he was a great citizen. He only murdered one guy. Jeez!”
The olympics must have ZERO tolerance for political nonsense or else it will be treated as a political venue like I am treating it. Imagine if the jews or muslums were treated with that must disrespect, there would be violence.
Besides, no parent should be letting their children watch homosexual pornography on display as shown in the olympics; men with their balls hanging out.
all right, all right, all right!
I didn’t watch the opening ceremonies for that reason, that Atta-boy quote is silly when you read about the guy I posted about, he’s a great American, who is an electrical engineer who happens to be world class in ONE gymnastics event and helped his team win a medal, I choose to celebrate that I also choose to condemn the opening ceremonies and other insane things at the Olympics, it’s not an all or nothing situation IMO.
I like to watch the Olympics and the athletes compete. There are interesting sports you don’t see everyday. I do not like the disgraceful show of perversion that the organizers decided was just the greatest thing ever. Nothing to do with sports whatsoever, and disrespectful to the Christion religion, would be the same disrespect for most religions. If I was an athlete competing, I would have serious thoughts about just walking away. What a damn shame. Way can’t they just focus on sports?
