Ford had plans to build a lot of electric SUVs at a plant in Canada.
Instead, it decided to make pickup trucks that people want to buy.
As a result, the automaker is putting off plans for electric versions of its Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator and will churn out Super Duty pickup trucks at its Oakville, Ontario, plant, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Ford must be banking on Trump to win and reverse all the EV mandates.
They should have listened to me
Just 10 days>2 weeks ago, Ford announced Oakville, CA would convert to EVs, which was very puzzling given slow EV sales.
Didn’t take long for someone to talk sense into the board.
Does the chevron decision have anything to do with this? If it does, they should go ahead with the gas vehicles and tell them to pound sand.
So Ford sees a Trump win in the future and the end of the green gravy train is nigh?
Why? Do they want to make a profit or something silly like that?
Here, hear!!
Hear, hear!
In fact, if we restore our republic and Canada stays screwed, we’re gonna need a border wall to the north.
I’d love to know how much of Ford’s and other carmakers’ push to go all in on EV’s was from government regulations, and how much was from ESG pressure (investment rankings based on fake ESG scores) and how much was just the company’s marketers thought it was a good idea.
I’d bet a lot of it was closed-door demands from the government to the Boards of Directors. Both overt demands as well as a million covert ways the government communicates “Here’s what you will do.”
People smell change.
HOW DARE YOU!
Ford is the best selling automobile brand in Canada for 14 years in a row.
Just like in the USA. The F Series pick up trucks are the number one seller. F-150s, F-250s, F-350s Super Duty.
This plant is going to make the Super Duty pick ups. These are the trucks used to haul large trailers. They are primarily sold to commercial businesses. Like people who plow snow in the winter.
These are not like so many people in the USA they drive pick ups and hardly ever put something in the bed. These are serious trucks for people who use them for work.
One made millions off the green scam she didn’t.
His electric bill on his house for a year would make a very nice down payment on a new home.
Ford, Government Motors (GM), etc will make as many EVs as the government pays them to make. I am not talking about just tax credits. If there is a $$billion$$ in the EV pipeline, they will make a $$billion$$ worth of EVs. In the end the government will probably purchase them with more taxpayer $$$.
It is similar to the old Soviet Union. There were farm tractor manufacturers building tractors. Outside of the tractor factory were many, many brand new tractors, just rustic away. But everybody had a ‘job’ so they just kept Maki tractors.
In the past year there have been images of similar communist manufacturing in China. There are vast fields of Chicom EVs. Heck, the Chicoms have built entire cities that were never occupied.
