And bunch of other assassinations.
E.g. assassination of King Alexander of Yugoslavia in Marseille, before WWII. That is all on tape, the bodyguards were extremally incompetent, but then killed the assassin instantly. That caused Yugoslavia to withdraw (temporally) from the anti-nazi coalition and helped Hitler to start the war!
How about this: Olof Palme, the Prime Minister of Sweden, was assassinated on February 28, 1986, in Stockholm.
The incident: Palme was shot while walking home from a cinema with his wife, Lisbet Palme, on a central Stockholm street.
Circumstances: He had dismissed his security detail for the evening, which was not unusual for him.
The shooting: An unidentified assailant shot Palme in the back at close range. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Investigation: The case remained unsolved to this day, becoming one of the largest criminal investigations in Swedish history.
In June 2020, Swedish prosecutors named Stig Engström, also known as “Skandia Man,” as the likely killer. However, as Engström had died in 2000, the investigation was closed without formal charges.
