Yup—having committed leftists “moderating” a debate is like walking into a minefield with bare feet.

I was about to say the same thing. He caved on everything Biden wanted. He’s knowingly agreed to walk into an ambush. Confidence is good. Overconfidence not so much.

Perhaps he thinks Biden will fail miserably despite the moderator?
This is an election year ritual - the Republican nominee agrees to everything the Democrats want for the debates, including blatantly hostile, biased left-wing moderators. No matter who the nominee is, the pattern never changes.
The media debaters will either play nice to avoid criticism or will be partisan hacks. Suspect the latter.

No question or accusation is bad if properly responded to by an innocent person.
Tapper has established his audience of Trump haters and now his job is to keep feeding it. If he loses that audience, ne loses his job.

Perhapds, just perhaps, Trump will lash out at Tapper in a very big way. Make the debate about the fake news and the lying propagandists.
One would have thought Trump would have learned his lesson with Chris Wallace. I’m sick to death of having the deck against us every freaking time.

Exactly. Trump (or his staff) had to realize that this was not gonna be anything close to a fair fight. The moderators were gonna throw softball questions to Biden and blast away at Trump.
A person doesn’t need to have a PhD in Political Science to figure it out.

It is frustrating.
Democrats seek every advantage possible. It’s a winning formula in business, sports and war.
Republicans always accept the terms and conditions of the Democrats.
The Republican voters deserve better.

Trump said they made the rules onerous b/c they thought he’d balk.
But he surprised then......... and accepted.
I can’t either, but maybe Trump views it as fighting all of them with one hand tied behind his back. I can probably do it.

Both campaigns were provided with a list of potential moderators, and each had choices about who to strike from the list until only one was left.
That’s how Tapper got the job.
