A California State Legislature committee has approved a bill that could allocate a staggering $800 billion for slavery reparations. This sum is more than 2.5 times the state’s annual budget. Notably, California was never a slave state historically, yet it will be paying individuals who themselves were never enslaved. The decision reflects an acknowledgment of the long-lasting harm endured by Black Americans, even in a state that never officially endorsed slavery.

One day, the Hispanic and Asian communities of California are going to go entirely anti-Democrat, and shock the leadership of the state.

Twenty quadrillion dollars or it’s an insult.

Money for nothing. If that’s the ticket, then everyone who had ancestors who fought against slavery should get some loot also, even though they themselves never fought in any war.

As put by a comedian: Reparations to be paid to people who were never slaves, by people who never owned slaves, in a state that never had Slavery.

Brilliant.

This is designed to create resentment against blacks. I try to explain this to blacks, but they can only see the Benjamins.

The hard-working, overtaxed, non-slave owning citizens of California can pay that bill mandated by their “elected” representatives. $lavery 2024.

I would have expected twice that amount. Especially since California was so entrenched in slavery, so much blood of the slaves was shed there...they needed to have done more. Wow, how skimpy.

I should have never been passed in US History. I obviously didn’t deserve that A as I still thought California wasn’t a slave state.

🤦‍♂️

My ancestors came here on a boat from Germany after slavery and before Nazism. If they had been union soldiers killed or maimed in the civil war, and some homeboy came up to me talking about reparations, it would get ugly really fast.

Minimum wage law $50 bucks/hour - so why not $4 trillion dollars for reparations.

The figures are meaningless at this point.

Like paying off our national debt with a $30 trillion dollar platinum coin....

The 13% will be even more thuggish expecting this huge windfall. Then when these lies never materialize, or are shot down by a responsible governing body, the 13% go crazy because they are being oppressed again. Can’t win.

Exactly. If anyone deserves “reparations” it’s those who lost ancestors in the Civil War. But financially, the country just cannot afford this kind of lavish spending, and people should just move on. One little known fact is that many early slave traders were from Africa, enslaving other Africans. Maybe Africans should pay up.

800 billion from 20 million taxpayers - that’s $40,000 per cracker.
