This decision comes from a state that historically never practiced slavery.

Scam package

When all that is said and done if this bill passes and California becomes bankrupt guess what, ‘someone’ will bail them out, someone from the Federal government.

And I would not be surprised if THAT passed. (this would be years down the line from now but these people never go away).

Remember stupid NY and the 70s.

Well there you have it. Reparations for slavery is becoming a prominent liberal cause.

So we are going to ask people who had nothing to do with slavery to pay people who were never slaves.

CA Black population roughly 6.5% total population. Quite the payday.

I’m sure the 39% Hispanic and 17% Asian population will be just fine with their taxes going to their oppressed neighbors.

So California continues to be stupid. No shock there.

Of course we know they’ll look to the US (that’s the rest of us) to pay the bill.

Can we kick them out of the Republic yet? Let them be their own country?

Ask yourself, who really benefits from this? It sure won’t be black people.

Would white people be eligible if they discover an enslaved African ancestor and intermediary ancestors who passed for white?

And would black people be ineligible if they cannot prove descent from a slave?

At first glance, I would say Bill of Attainder.

Then, no.

But, maybe?

Courts have adopted a three-part test to determine if a law functions as a bill of attainder:

1. The law inflicts punishment.
2. The law targets specific named or identifiable individuals or groups.
3. Those individuals or groups would otherwise have judicial protections.

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/bill_of_attainder

My thoughts -
1. Inflicts punishment on non-blacks
2. Targets identifiable groups - no brainer there
3. Refer to 1.

Who says all of the determining criteria have to apply to the same group?

Or you could say that instead of a punishment or economic penalty paid by a targeted group to the government, it gets paid directly to a party designated by the government.

Californians paying reparations from who, to who, and for what?

These funds will not be distributed to the black population. The progressive way is to give it to NGO’s to be used for ‘projects’. You know the NGOs in Washington State are the profressionals and will be copied.

Politicians and the “well connected” need a huge pile of money to loot. The larger the pile, the less attention is paid to the small “lost and unaccounted for” sums.

1% of $800 billion is $8billion. They aim high since the approved amount will undoubtedly be considerably lower, but you see my point. These are professional thieves feeding at the public trough, a government tradition.

Forming a “task force” to look into California paying out billions for reparations doesn’t look like such a good idea now, does it Gov. Newsom?

Newsom has gone silent on the issue.

This is from over a year ago:

“California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) backed away from the idea of paying reparations to descendants of slaves, after a state panel he signed into law calculated the state was liable for hundreds of billions of dollars.”

Newsom well knows taxpayers, businesses and productive citizens are fleeing the state - and 10,000 fast food workers have been laid off after he signed a bill mandating $20 minimum wage.

I’m sure he assumes the feds will bail him out.

A California State Legislature committee

A committee passing the buck because they won’t take a stand.

Another leftist cluster flux idea. How will they distribute the reparations ‘fairly and equitably’? Some will claim they didn’t get their ‘fair share’ or got excluded. Some will steal their loot to justify getting slighted in the deal. To be a leftist to be a loser in mind, soul and spirit and to spread that disease to others.

“To pay for that, you’d need a major tax hike unlike anything this state has ever seen before,” Sanchez said.

She’s halfway there. It will also require a 100% cut in all state spending.

The goods news for the federal govt is it will rake in $300 Billion in income tax from California taxpayers.

One suspects that the CA leg knows that this level of "free stuff" will never actually happen, but might fool the intended audience and motivate them for the Nov elections.
