80 Years Ago Today
June 4, 1944: The U.S. Fifth Army Liberated Rome. Two days later,
June 6, 1944: The Normandy D-Day invasion by the Allies begins, including the United State. One week later,
June 13, 1944: The "Pacific D-Day", Battle of Saipan, begins. This is the naval bombardment, followed by invasion on June 15, involving 535 ships with 127,000 troops.
All 3 were major military engagements in which the U.S. was a major participant in (especially the Battle of Saipan). All were going on at practically the same time, and different parts of the world. All three were victories.
If you want to know what really was going on with the Soviet Union before and during W.W. II read this book. It answers a lot of question about the German Army Invasion and why the Russians were in the beginning shocked and disorganized.
God bless him/his soul.
I don’t think that is totally true, certainly not in Europe with conventional fighting. The Russian Armies were much stronger and seasoned than the western allies were.
Yeah, you can take a town by throwing your conscripts at it until they run out of ammo but that is a really stupid way to do it.
Meat grinders.
Of course a good part of it is that the nature of the Russian culture is "kill my neighbor's goat" and has been so for the last thousand years.
Envy kills.
It is a really dumb way to run a war but it is what they have kept doing repeatedly.
And, now, what FJB likely wants for our kids/grandkids.
Evil.
Thank you.
