On May 16, 2024, Governor Greg Abbott pardoned Sgt. Daniel Perry. Perry was convicted of murder on April 7, 2023, in what many believe was a politically motivated case in Austin, Texas. During the prosecution, a police detective complained about the prosecution’s bias against Daniel Perry.
On July 25, 2020, BLM protestors blocked Perry’s car and beat on it. Then, one of the protestors, Garrett Foster, approached Perry’s car with an AK47-style rifle and motioned for Perry to roll down his window. After rolling down the window, Perry said he saw Foster start to raise his rifle toward Perry from a low-ready position. He shot Foster, and the crowd around the vehicle dispersed, allowing him to drive off a short way, where he immediately contacted the police less than a minute after the shooting. As he was driving away, another protester fired shots at his vehicle.
On the conviction of Daniel Perry, Governor Greg Abbott asked the Texas Board of Pardons to give him a recommendation. Governor Abbott is limited by Texas law, and can only pardon a person if given a recommendation to do so by the Board of Pardons.
Over a year later, on May 16, 2024, the Texas Board of Pardons unanimously recommended U.S. Army Sergeant Daniel Perry be pardoned. From the board:
The members of the Board of Pardons and Paroles delved into the intricacies of Perry’s case. The investgative efforts encompassed a meticulous review of pertinent documents, from police reports to court records, witness statements, and interviews with individuals linked to the case. After a thorough examination

The tactics the protestors were trained in were designed to set up confrontations, with the purpose of eliciting an overreaction by the people trapped in the protests.
It is not a normal reaction, for people in an intersection, when a car is attempting to move through them, to surround the car and beat on it with hands, feet and other objects.
Thank you, Governor Abbott.
Not that I care, but this is kinda old news now...
Good news is worth repeating though.
Perry could not know that. He was confronted with a masked man who had an AK47 style rifle in the low ready position, after he had been trapped in the roadway by an aggressive crowd.
Perry knew people had been dragged from cars and beaten. He knew people in cars had been shot at.
It was reasonable for him to believe his life and/or bodily integrity were at severe risk.
Excellent!
Every one of those BLM Scum Terrorists should have been publicly executed, ... after a speedy conviction at Gitmo.
Sickening that they found 12 people to convict. Just left Austin and can confirm it is a s$&@hole filled with $h&@hole people.
The real outrage here is in the local and county governments of Austin enabling armed “protesters” to set up roadblocks.
Megyn Kelly has discussed this on her show. In her case, it was the local government of Kenosha, Wisconsin, who ordered police to stand down, and REFUSED to call in the National Guard. They set up a situation that made likely the armed confrontation with Kyle Rittenhouse.
Excellent.

If Trump had been reelected, and had a strong Attorney General, then perhaps they could have looked into civil lawsuits against these jurisdictions.
If I had my druthers, even criminal charges are warranted against the mayors and town managers of Portland, Kenosha and Austin. I’m not a lawyer, so I can’t say for sure if there’s a federal means for doing this.
