If there was domestic violence and some authoritative voice says “police”, it probably is a police officer.
If you have a gun in your hand, expect police to shoot.
In this situation, the police have reason to believe violence has already happened.
Also, if you were involved in domestic violence, you don’t want to have a gun at hand because you might want to shoot your domestic partner.
“The current World Fast Draw Association (WFDA) record for Open Class Fast Draw in an event called Standing Balloons is .208 seconds - and that includes the time it takes to react, draw, fire and pop a balloon target at eight feet away. A world class competitor can draw and fire a shot in under half a second.”

“My belief is that you need to be able to draw your gun from concealment and hit your target in under two seconds.”
“He said that Colonel Cooper taught him a drill where, from 25 yards, you have 2.5 seconds to get one shot into an 8-inch circle while drawing from concealment.”

To repeat, cops need to be told that this modern kill everything in front of me and then sort out what the situation was is over.
Cops need to return to the time when they knew that a lot of the burden of risk was on them, cops didn’t used to just gun everyone and their dog, you called cops to calm things, not to kill your drunken uncle, or retarded son, or your Golden Retriever, or yourself.
Those awkward seconds at that front door should have been the cop’s burden of risk, instead he murdered an innocent man answering his front door.
If you have a gun in your hand, expect police to shoot
There was no domestic violence occurring in the dead man’s apartment
He was alone in his apartment talking on the phone with his girlfriend
He had no reason to expect the police that day.
Also note in the article that the cop stood out of view of the peep hole when he knocked so the man could not confirm that it was a cop at the door.
Given that criminals pretend to be police to commit home invasions these days I consider it reasonable to answer the door with a firearm in hand.
This cop was pumped on adrenaline and committed manslaughter.
I think the victim was completely oblivious to the domestic disturbance that the cops were checking on. Wrong address....
