Seems like a cop on an adrenaline high reacted to the sight of a gun.
Too bad that there is not money for simulation training cops for these situations.
This happened down the street from my house................
This is the same Sheriff’s Department that a deputy unloaded his weapon into his cruiser with prisoner inside because he heard an acorn fall on the hood and thought it was gunfire................. That deputy was fired.............
If I owned a gun, I would probably keep it in my bedroom in the dresser near the head of the bed and not anywhere near my front door.
“Domestic violence is a very serious problem. It is a crime. Domestic violence is responsible for more injuries to women than any other reason, exceeding injuries due to rape, mugging, and traffic accidents combined. In some cases, battering escalates to homicide and suicide. The FBI reports that a woman is battered every 12 seconds in this country. Some reports indicate that more than half of all American women will experience some form of violence from their spouses during marriage.
“Three to four million women are physically abused each year. Many of the abused women are beaten as frequently as once a month, once a week, or even daily. Of the 5,745 women murdered in 1991, 6 out of 10 were killed by someone they knew. About 50% were murdered by a spouse or someone with whom they had been intimate.”

The instructor at my latest concealed carry class said do not tell a cop you are armed unless the law specifically says you have to. The reason is how he will react, that might get you killed.
Now this is for when being pulled over in a car. The person in this home has every right to be armed. I hope the cop and his department are sued.
We are always making the case that guns are not dangerous, yet it seems this deputy shot just because he saw a gun. It was not a threat, however.
Of course, the racial dynamics are going to bring a whole different level of controversy, but unless there is something in the background of the deputy that indicates any sort of racial bias, I don't see how that had anything to do with it.
The deputy should plead guilty to some type of manslaughter and do some time.
Deputy needs to be locked away. Forever. And whoever was responsible for their training fired.
