The article is total b.s.
It states she was fined for selling cookies.
It states she was fined for not having permission.
The fines were for neither:
“ a $100 fine for parking on the sidewalk, a $150 fine for unlawful obstruction and another $150 fine for a municipal code that said there needs to be at least five feet of unobstructed passage”
What has happened to journalism in this country?
The way that she was selling the cookies is the crux of the issue. Location, location, location
It turns out that her grandparents are located on main street, which actually is a four-lane thoroughfare
Given the local, if the girl (who is too young to drive outside of the driveway) had positioned the truck so it was an actual hazard to traffic, she also could have been asked to move it.
The cop should have issued a warning, possibly knocking on the door of the house.
The council needs to be voted out and the cop chewed out.
I’m sure people have garage sales etc. in that neighborhood all the time and the traffic flow can handle it. I’m located in a slightly smaller town. The garage sale potential is one of the few upsides to living on the “main drag.”
I was just going to point out the same thing.
But it makes no sense that the officer gal didn’t just tell the mom what codes she was violating instead of pretending it was no big deal and then fining her mega-bucks.
