“• Individuals aged 14-30 are consistently more likely to die of accidental shootings than any other age group.”
I’d say the reason for that is lack of safety in firearms handling and storage.
I do not like keeping a rifle or shot gun loaded in the house simply because in picking it up from the leaning position with the butt on the floor, the muzzle is often pointed at one’s head. A large “Open Chamber” flag indicates the chamber is empty for our “ready” gun by the entry door. It takes just seconds to put a magazine in, hit the B.A.D. lever, safety off and it’s ready to go.
Thanks to all posters. Important perspectives.
How many were unintended “friendly fire” victims of otherwise righteous self defense shootings? Wouldn’t those be rightly chargeable to the perpetrators?
As a general rule, fatalities are about 1/4 of gunshot victims. I find it odd that gun accident fatalities are almost 2/3rds of these gunshot accidents.
Thanks for reminding me - I’ll start posting it with the other statistics...

Lt. Col. Jeff Cooper would have saved a lot more lives by now if people would just wise up a little. Might as well wish for pigs to fly, I suppose.
