The nice thing is that the gun has a cyclinder bore ( No choke) which means rifled slugs can be very accurate out to 100 yards.They make good hunting guns as well.

On a serious note, I understand that game wardens in grizzly country carry 12 gauge shotguns stoked with slugs for protection against them.

The slug tends to stop them up short, even if it bounces of their thick skulls. I have seen SGs used against nuisance bears but I have not had to shoot one.
