Prayer Request and Update – Lora
Lora and I wish to thank all those (over 100 Freepers) who previously offered their kind prayers for Lora after she was diagnosed with cancer in her lower large intestine. See https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/4213642/posts After several weeks searching to find a cancer center, Lora and her husband decided on the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is scheduled to begin the treatment protocol tomorrow, which consists of a combination of radiation and proton therapy – approximately twenty treatments over six weeks. The good news is that all indications seem to suggest the cancer has not yet metastasized. She naturally expressed trepidation to me in her approaching treatment ordeal and i told her, to think of the challenge as when she approached her plebe summer training at the Naval Academy where she had to focus hard and set her sights on reaching that all-important final objective - graduation. I added - just take a deep breath, dive right in, and grind your way through it. Interestingly, the doctor who is in charge of her treatment was mentored by a now retired doctor who happens to live close to the Mayo campus where Lora is temporarily renting a place to stay. As it turns out, the retire doctor happens to also be a Naval Academy alumnus. He told Lora he was going to keep a close eye on the treatment program. Please ask the Good Lord Almighty to be with Lora as she undergoes her cancer treatment and pray for a successful outcome. Many thanks to all for your consideration and compassion.

Give Lora strength as she goes through her chemo and radiation treatments. May there not be side effects.

Thank you and all the others who have offered their blessed prayers. Yes, Lora is now in the thick of it, having undergone 10 radiation treatments of a total of 28. She’s a tough former Navy helicopter pilot so with God’s blessing and everyone’s prayers she will weather the storm. Today, on Easter Sunday, God’s message to all who believe is that no matter the illness, no matter the pain. no, not even death, can keep us from His saving grace. He is the rock we cling to in times of strife. Have a blessed and a Happy Easter.
