The D.C. Council on Tuesday distanced itself from the soft-on-crime policies behind last year’s crime wave and passed a massive public safety bill aimed at cracking down on street violence.
Council members voted unanimously to pass the Secure D.C. Omnibus Amendment Act, which targets carjackings and shootings. The crimes raised rates of violence and motivated residents to seek a recall of two council members.

Critics of the city’s leadership have argued that “defund the police” policies after the death of George Floyd have contributed to the crime crisis.
Charles Allen, Ward 6 Democrat, and Brianne Nadeau, Ward 1 Democrat, are facing recall efforts amid criticism that they led the charge to cut police budgets and were too lenient on criminals.

DC was blessed with 2 responsible mayors for a time that took crime, business development, and keeping a working tax base from moving out of the city seriously. The recent mayor and council members are hell bent on being woke fools reversing all this. The result is record murders, carjackings, violent crime and record amount of people moving out of the city, including its 2 indoor professional sports teams.
Bandaid until November 6, 2024.
Now they’ll be going after illegal aliens, MS-13 and the cartels. Good luck to them.

You mean the overdose death of George Floyd.
Do it without regard to skin color, religion, or nationality.
If someone is caught on video doing the crime, it removes any *reasonable doubt* from the equation.
Arrest, watch the video, determine if the actions happened, ignore motive, and prosecute (jail or death penalty), and no cutting slack for excuses. Do the crime = do the time.
