One such decision was the cancellation of the Future Combat System.
(((ALL))) Western MBTs are dead. They have been dead.
We simply have been using them against retarded third rate enemies where if you bolt on some ERA, countermeasure or soft/hard kill system they can still sort-of stay viable.
What folks do not realize when they see these Leo's, Challengers and M1’s (all the same in reality) getting blown to $hit is that this is the end of armored warfare as we know it.
(((The need for such capabilities persists, but we can't do it!))) It would be as if it's 1958 and we never built a F-86 or F-100 and were still using P-51’s. The P-51 was a superior fighter in WWII and it has an incredible legacy, but its time had come and passed, needing to give way to newer technologies and concepts in air to air combat. Our reliance on the M1 today is like flying a P-51 in the day and age of the jet fighter.
(((You are watching the death of the western MBT concept, and the VALIDATION that the future battle-space will dominated by situational awareness and drones.)))
The killing of Future Combat System was a horrible, horrible idea: https://www.slideserve.com/nina-nicholson/future-combat-systems
Thank you Mr. Obama.
