Touchy eh?

Reading the writing on the wall - the tank is no longer necessary with the recent collaspe of war weary Ukrainian military.

Funny thing. I was in or with the Army for 30 years. During that time the democrats reversed every possible military victory America’s soldiers won by reversing it politically - from Biden’s first term as a senator the betryal began. In a reversal of the knives out, Biden is getting the Ides of March 5th Treatment and HIS war is defeated by the Republicans. Obama turned the Democrats into the party of war. Trump is ending it.

Everyone on FR who knows Amerian’s History, except the Zeepers knew the Congress would betray Ukraine, but Joe Biden made it personal from 1976 onwards. It is sweet to Obama’s/Biden’s DNC-RINO Communist-NAZI pack of lies undone.

The first step to MAGA is getting rid of the vestiges of Biden and the Obama’s and their ilk. The old guard is leaving under duress politically in the US. Times are a changing. The RINOs are almost extinct. Trump has signaled that if they go quietly into the night, they might leave with their ill gotten gains but should they remain they will face charges of corruption, possibly treason, given the treatment they gave to him.

You are amusing. No refutation of the details of the Ukrainian resident propagandist, "17 months late" news, nor for which hotlinks were provided.

As usual, a Zeeper misses the main point of the ping list, never understanding they are the entertainment.

Yup,

They are “barely” a near peer.

In this entire conflict, it was funny to see how some folks while at the same time arguing that Russia is having a difficult time subduing Ukraine, argued that they have some Cold War imperialistic, Soviet ambitions and threaten Western Europe.

We are stripping them literally of all their allied and aligned nations, one at a time: Iraq, Syria, Libya, Niger, Venezuela... And as we build military bases on their border, in former Soviet Republics, bring new nukes into Europe (low key) and build a missile defense system, we talk about this huge vast threat. If people didn't actually believe this crap, it would be a great story for a satire.

Russia isn't a twerp like most of the idiots we deal with in the Middle East. But they are also no longer the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact is dissolved.

Their only trump card is their nuclear deterrence where they have parity with us. That's it!

In every other aspect, they are significantly inferior / at a disadvantage. Before the wars begin in 2021, their land component forces were 55% ours (I am only comparing them to us, the US), their air component was 47% ours, their sea component 43% ours. Their entire Intelligence Community was 1/3 ours. They have 44% our population, 40% the number of men reaching military age annually. Their economy is 1/10 ours in terms of GDP, 1/5 in PPP, they have less high tech, less industry. They have less allies, they have weaker allies, and most of their allies are mired in internal strife to where their entire IC and military is in reality dedicated to keeping internal security (not able to deploy forces in any appreciable quantity). Their military depends heavily on conscription which brings with it a high turn over of personnel (loss of experienced troops and low morale in conflicts such as these). This is the big boogieman we make them into today. Somehow all of this went unnoticed and we pretended as if Russia was going to invade Poland unless we stop them now in Ukraine, according to our media! Hahahaha

What are they going to attack the West with? Their (((one))) carrier which is literally broke more often than operational? A POS tank which they call a T-90 but in reality is the same junk they used in the Cold War, T-72? If you look at Russian military hardware, it's built primitive, may that be their RPGs or ATGM’s. What we began fielding in 1996 (Javelin) they STILL have no true equivalent for and their Kornet while a capable system demonstrates their problem. It is big, clunky, has a huge sight that is inferior, no fire and forget, a big signature when fired, uses laser beam riding technology which can be detected and defeated, but it's a technology they can domestically produce: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9M133_Kornet It is a dangerous/capable system, but it's not even close to what we have. They can't build/afford something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FGM-148_Javelin And when the war in Ukraine broke out, we handed ~10,000 of these to the Ukrainians, which did a great job against Russian armor. The T-14 is the same situation. They do not have the domestic technology base nor the money to really field such a weapon system in great numbers.

China is our true near peer threat (emerging power), with Russia being a “has been” (on the decline for years). We are essentially crushing our competition in who controls the worlds energy reserves. They are still holding onto some of their sphere of influence which we want to take over all in the name of democracy, peace and human rights, of course: Iraq, Syria, Libya, Niger, Nigeria, Venezuela.

Russia being this huge threat is a joke.

This Ukrainian blog “reports” on what a Russian source is supposed to have said.

Seventeen months ago....

Reality is very hurtful to Biden loving Never Trumpers sometimes referred to as “Zeepers”. Ukrainian based “news” organizations reporting on inconsequential decisions made 17 months ago that have now been determined to be suddenly relevant... is important to keep up their morale. Accurate reporting about the so called “Spring Offensive”, rampant corruption, Zelensky and company mansions and foreign investments, 10% for the “big guy”, etc... etc... etc... tends to dampen their mood.

So please try to remember how upsetting interjecting actual factual information into the conversation can be to these Biden loving Never Trumper Neocon arm-chair warriors along with their first-person shooter video game hero brethren.

Russia being this huge threat is a joke.

Our nuclear arsenal had parity with Russia 30 years ago. Not so much today. They have been constantly maintaining and upgrading theirs while our country's nuclear capability has been treated like a red headed step child even before Obama. It is likely that their chemical and biologic weapons of mass destruction are also far ahead of our own as well.

Unlike our country, the failed “sanctions” have demonstrated that they are almost completely self-sufficient. And they are run by a despot who has little if any fear of the West. Anyone who says, “Russia being this huge threat is a joke” is living in a fantasy world so far detached from reality that it is scary. Your opinion is common because of the massive amount of propaganda we are subjected to every day, but your opinion is completely misguided no matter how you try to justify it.

The lesson here is do not back Russia into a corner. Which is exactly what Biden and company have been trying to do. This is stupid and very dangerous.

Map from several years ago that likely understates the current situation.

--- "The Interview with Chemezov with RIA was published yesterday . He was begging for funding to buy more weapons, too."

Gosh and by golly. No link. A simple, quick search shows a RIA article not to be found so easily found. But then....

MOSCOW, March 4/ Radio Sputnik. The latest Russian T-14 Armata tank is unlikely to be used during a special military operation in Ukraine due to its high cost, despite its superiority over other models, said Sergei Chemezov, CEO of the Rostec state corporation. " 'Armata' is, in general, a bit expensive. In terms of its functionality, of course, it is far superior to existing tanks, but it is too expensive, so the army is unlikely to use it now. It's easier for them to buy the same T-90s," he told RIA Novosti. (Machine translated, but I leave the original title in the link so you can read it.)

В "Ростехе" оценили целесообразность использования "Арматы" в СВО

It was a pass through by Ukraine to Yahoo which "expanded" the meaning.

Senior Russian official says Russia will not use "state-of-the-art" Armata tanks in Ukraine due to their high price Ukrainska Pravda via Yahoo, 4 March 2024

Seems like no more a "begging bowl" than the lobbying going on in our Congress to further fund war materiel. Both sides are making fiscal decisions. What a surprise.

The Kyiv-based Defence-Blog title (in English because their aim is to reach English-language readers) which you reproduced faithfully -- "Russia abandons Armata tank due to its high cost" -- was simply incorrect. The tank seems to be being further developed for other theaters, the T-90s being supplied, and neither is "abandoned." As quoted, " 'It's easier for them to buy the same T-90s,' he told RIA Novosti."

But this is what "news" does. The headline does not always conform to the prose beneath it, not in Ukraine nor Russia nor here, after all. Seems this war between two non-NATO nations is deforming even language. With abandon.

--- "...do not back Russia into a corner. Which is exactly what Biden and company have been trying to do. This is stupid and very dangerous."

An apt comment. It seems very wise to not back anyone or any nation into a "corner," if one is not willing and able to "pull the 'stupid and vary dangerous' trigger."

"Mutually-assured destruction" was and remains a fine phrase. Mutual. Bluffing is a kid's game, as a strategy in poker and other games, but bluffing when not ready to "show your stuff" is empty, in the long run. To be proven to have been bluffing does not further any geopolitical aim. Or game.

And yet, BSing as found here on FR shows the "stupid" and "bluff" in some few Freepers. "I would rather the world end in nuclear war than yield to Little Pukin." This is stupid and very dangerous.

What war has been fought using nuclear weapons since WWII?

What war has been fought using conventional forces since WWII?

Where does Russia have an advantage in conventional forces?

As to nuclear capabilities.

We simply keep things quiet or at least don’t brag about it to much. We are modernizing as well, and we have MORE deployed than Russia. Total number of warheads does not tell the true story (they have to be delivered).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGM-35_Sentinel

Also, we have allies with nukes: France, UK, Israel.

But overall, Russia and the US have about parity.

BTW, who ditched the Ballistic Missile Treaty?

https://www.armscontrol.org/act/2002-07/news/us-withdraws-abm-treaty-global-response-muted

BTW, who actually publicly invoked the idea of using nukes to bust bunkers already in 2004 (In limited conflicts)?

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://pubs.aip.org/physicstoday/article-pdf/56/11/32/11109760/32_1_online.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwimhsHHjduEAxU1G9AFHcVEBksQFnoECDAQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2hTn6TSEzmU16uCS0jDQXX

BTW, who was the only one to ever use a nuke? Who has tested more nukes (under ground, in the atmosphere and even space)?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nuclear_weapons_tests ~ 1/3 more.

Nukes are a deterrent, “Smash glass in case of emergency.” They are not used as part of military campaigns around the world, although it was actually us that invoked that idea starting 2004.

Russia is an over rated threat while China is an under rated threat.

If you want to know why that is, just look at how many US congressmen and even presidents have indirectly received money from China.

China, a nation where our government sees no single party communist regime as we talk about democracy elsewhere.

China, a nation executing more people than any other nation on this planet, that oppresses religion, makes dissidents disappear, had a one child policy, forced abortions, and very questionable organ harvesting policies while we talk about human rights elsewhere.

China, which occupies Tibet, threatens Taiwan and is actively undermining this government, as we talk about sovereignty elsewhere.

China which has 4 carriers, is building long range anti carrier missiles, and has the world’s largest military in manpower, building newer jets, newer subs... and we talk about a Russian threat. Who do you think these targets and missiles are meant for? https://news.usni.org/2021/11/07/china-builds-missile-targets-shaped-like-u-s-aircraft-carrier-destroyers-in-remote-desert#:~:text=The%20Chinese%20military%20has%20built,by%20satellite%20imagery%20company%20Maxar.

But... Who we see as the bad guy and good guy is largely based on who is making money?

What war has been fought using nuclear weapons since WWII?

https://thebulletin.org/doomsday-clock/

The problem with your mental exercises is like in financial matters... past precedence gives us no guarantee for the future. The nuclear scientists who produce the “Doomsday Clock” have us closer to a nuclear holocaust that at any time in history including the “Cold War”. My guess is that they have a far more realistic point of view than Neocons who want to risk it all over keeping the most corrupt regime in Ukraine's short history in power.

Ukriane is now a hotspot in a region that has had conflicts going on almost constantly for hundreds if not thousands of years. The United States and most of the rest of the world have little if any real strategic interest in the area. Starting another World War over this nonsense is the ultimate in absolute and complete stupidity no matter how our Freeper Poindexters try to rationalize it.

Fortunately, President Trump has vowed to get us out of this nonsense immediately... And there are not enough Never Trumper Biden following idiots to keep him from winning the next election.

Red6, just a clue for you... when you are on the same side as Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, Nikki Haley, the rest of the Demo-Publicans and the deep state... maybe it is time to try and figure out if that is really who you want to be associated with? These are all people who would not lift a finger to keep our country from being invaded by more than 10 million foreign military aged male criminals, but choose to spend $Hundreds of Billions to keep a corrupt bunch of Globo-homo-Nazis in charge of a country most people still couldn't find on a map.

The vast majority of Americans couldn't tell the difference between a Russian and a Ukrainian if their life depended on it.
