We've empowered stupidity using elections for 250 years. Why stop with humans?

Politicians are the dregs of society in a nice suit. But representative government (i.e., using politicians) is still better than the alternative.

The real problem with any kind of government is that humans are basically ungovernable because we are incapable of producing leaders that aren't stupid, venal, and/or corrupt.
