This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

There are close to 700,000 Russian service members deployed in Ukraine, including National Guard soldiers, special forces, and support units, Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) spokesperson Andrii Yusov said on Sept. 5.

“The majority is deployed in Donetsk Oblast, which shows... (Russia's) priorities,” Yusov said in an interview with Ukrainian news channel Novyny.Live.

Ukraine's army fields almost 900,000 service members across the country, but President Volodymyr Zelensky said in January that Russia continues to hold a numerical advantage in some front-line sectors due to the concentration of forces. At the time, the Russian contingent in Ukraine counted 600,000 troops, Zelensky said.

Despite reportedly suffering over 1 million soldiers killed and wounded during the full-scale war, Russia has been consistently able to offset its losses by fresh contract soldiers, while Kyiv faces increasingly critical manpower shortages.

Moscow has also received North Korean reinforcements, with thousands of troops expected to arrive after the initial batch of 11,000-12,000 soldiers who were deployed in Russia's Kursk Oblast in late 2024. The North Korean contingent helped Russia fend off a Ukrainian incursion into the Russian border region, reportedly suffering 2,000 soldiers killed in combat. When asked if North Korean troops have joined hostilities on Ukrainian territory, Yusov responded that Pyongyang's forces currently remain in Russia. Along the entire front, 40-60% of artillery shells fired at Ukraine and Ukrainian soldiers are North Korean-made — these are huge numbers,” Yusov said. “If this factor were taken away, Russia's fire support and strike capabilities would be much smaller,” the spokesperson said, noting that North Korean artillery and missile supplies play a much more significant role than the troop deployment.

Special forces have evacuated four Ukrainian soldiers who spent three years hiding in Russian-occupied territory, Oleksii Neizhpapa, commander of the Ukrainian Navy, said on Sept. 5.

He said that they had been evacuated by the navy's Angels special forces unit.

The soldiers had been injured in combat and had been hiding in the occupied territories in a hospital where “sympathetic doctors” helped them avoid Russian secret services, Neizhpapa wrote on Facebook. The evacuees include a marine, three National Guards and a medical worker who helped hide the soldiers.

“The operation was planned and divided into several stages, taking into account the illegal status of all persons and the high intensity of combat operations, which was complicated by increased filtration measures on the part of the Russian special services,” Neizhpapa said. “Our guys survived where it seemed there was no chance.”

The Angels unit has rescued 88 people in total.

Bodyguards for Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un got into a scuffle over the air conditioning remote during a meeting between the two leaders in China earlier this week, according to Kommersant journalist Andrey Kolesnikov.

The conflict allegedly began when one of Kim's bodyguards silently adjusted the room temperature to 23 degrees Celsius (73 degrees Fahrenheit). His Russian counterpart objected, insisting it be lowered to 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).

According to Kolesnikov, the dispute started as a verbal exchange, with Putin's guard speaking in Russian. Although Kim's bodyguard understood him, he refused to comply — prompting a physical altercation over the remote control. “They spent some time prying each other's fingers off the remote before one of them finally lost his cool and settled the matter with a single move,” Kolesnikov writes. “The Korean guy probably felt a bit of pain.”

One of the photos in Kolesnikov’s report is captioned “The heat was never turned up,” implying that the Russian guard won the dispute. Kolesnikov also observed that the meeting venue had been hastily arranged — initially, there were only two chairs in the room, insufficient for delegation-level talks. Staff were seen swapping out Belarusian flags for North Korean ones in full view of the press.

The meeting between Putin and Kim took place on September 3 in China. During their talks, Putin emphasized the “allied relations” between the two countries and expressed gratitude for North Korean soldiers participating in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Because of his stubbornness, #Zelensky has pushed #Ukraine️ back 50 years. Now the people of Ukraine will never elect a fool.
The President of Ukraine is not capable of taking decisions. He has no right to remain President or to throw the people of Ukraine in front of the…

Ukraine says they can produce an FP-5 Flamingo Cruise Missile everyday now, and expect to be producing 7 per day by the end of October.

That means that so much more stuff is now within range, than Russia has Air Defense assets to protect. They will have to re-position assets, and accept leaving lots of things undefended.

Oil facilities will be able to be hit much harder with 2,500 lb Flamingo warheads, and much more frequently than they were in August, when 20% of Russian refining was knocked offline.

Basically, it looks like Ukraine will have the capabilty to take down Russia’s oil industry, and keep it down for the rest of the war - a Strategic effect.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, September 6, 2025

Ukrainian officials warned that the Russian military command is regrouping and reinforcing its troops in western Donetsk Oblast, likely ahead of a major offensive operation. Ukrainian Dnipro Group of Forces Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Belskyi reported that the Russian military command is concentrating significant forces in Donetsk Oblast and that the most intense fighting is occurring in the Pokrovsk direction.[1] Belskyi stated that Russian forces are now accumulating significant numbers of drones and heavy armored vehicles in the area after failing to seize Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad during Summer 2025. The Ukrainian 7th Army Corps reported that the Russian military command recently redeployed experienced naval infantry units to the Pokrovsk direction, indicating that Russia is preparing to re-intensify assaults in the area.[2] The Ukrainian 7th Army Corps reported that Russian forces began leveraging infiltration tactics with small teams with the aim of getting as close as possible to Ukrainian drone and artillery positions, overextending Ukrainian forces, gaining footholds in forward positions, and expanding the contested “gray” zone. The Ukrainian 7th Army Corps noted that Russian forces intensified offensive operations on the flanks of Pokrovsk using armored and motorized vehicles in an effort to interdict ground lines of communication (GLOCs) and envelop Pokrovsk. The Ukrainian 7th Army Corps reported that the Russian military command remains committed to seizing Ukraine's fortress belt, which consists of Slovyansk-Kramatorsk-Druzhkivka-Kostyantynivka and forms the backbone of Ukrainian forces’ defense in Donetsk Oblast. A senior non-commissioned officer (NCO) of a Ukrainian brigade operating in the Siversk direction reported that Russian forces are conducting troop rotations in the area and that Ukrainian forces anticipate that Russian forces will soon conduct intensified offensive operations.[3] The NCO noted that the Russian military command is pressuring Russian units to advance during Fall 2025, given that Russian forces did not achieve their given objectives during Summer 2025. The deputy commander of a Ukrainian battalion operating in the Kramatorsk direction also reported that Russian forces are building up their force presence in preparation for future assault operations in the Kramatorsk area and that the Russian military command has deployed unspecified naval infantry units to the area.[4]

A Ukrainian servicemember reported on September 5 that the Russian military command recently redeployed five to six unspecified naval infantry brigades to the Dobropillya direction alongside a tank regiment, an infantry regiment, and two motorized rifle brigades.[5] The Ukrainian servicemember reported that the Russian military command also recently redeployed elements of the 70th Motorized Rifle Division (18th Combined Arms Army [CAA], Southern Military District [SMD]) to Chasiv Yar. A Russian milblogger reportedly affiliated with the Russian Northern Grouping of Forces claimed on September 6 that elements of the 76th VDV Division, including its 237th VDV Regiment, are redeploying from Sumy Oblast to an unspecified location.[6] ISW recently observed reports that the Russian military command redeployed several units from Kursk Oblast, including elements of the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade (Pacific Fleet) to the Dobropillya area and elements of the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade (Pacific Fleet), 177th Naval Infantry Regiment (Caspian Flotilla), and 11th Separate VDV Brigade to unspecified areas of Donetsk Oblast.[7] ISW has also observed additional reports that the Russian military command redeployed elements of the 70th Motorized Rifle Division from Kherson Oblast to Bakhmut, possibly to reinforce Russian offensive efforts near Kostyantynivka or Siversk.[8] The Russian military command's reported decision to redeploy more forces to the Dobropillya area suggests that Russia may continue to focus on offensive efforts northeast of Pokrovsk.
