They are looking “billions and billions” of light years into space and make determinations as to just about everything!

Your level of ignorance is extreme. This article is referring to the Orion Nebula region which is only about 1300 light years from earth. Not billions of light years.
You declaring all the science and discoveries we've made of the sun, moon, solar system, planets, galaxies etc, all being simply, "Guess work" and make believe, takes ignorance to a whole new level.
