The Republican National Committee has made a decision on one of the most hotly contested state GOP chair seats in America.
Only moments ago, it was announced that former Trump Ambassador to the Netherlands and former US House Intelligence Chair Pete Hoekstra will be officially recognized as the GOP Chair in Michigan.
Kristina Karamo, the popular conservative and activist who was elected by a wide margin by over 2,000 delegates during a state MI GOP conference in March 2023, has been replaced after it was determined by the RNC that the proper by-laws were followed to remove her on January 6, in a 40-6 vote by a group of 71 state committee members (including proxies).
In addition to the vote to remove Karamo, the MI GOP General Counsel, Daniel Hartman, was also removed, as well as MIGOP Treasurer James Michael Copas and fundraiser and unofficial mouthpiece for the former MIGOP, Robert Morris Owens.

It’s too late; I can’t post an opinion. I’ve read too much of the article.
Or nothing changes.
Need a MAGA/Patriot from Michigan to weigh in.
Sounds like GOPe skulduggery, but I really don’t know.
I thought Karamo was doing a good job, and super MAGA. I wonder what happened.
Indeed. We know what's going to happen in these battleground states as the clock ticks toward midnight. A water main break here.. a power outage there.. broken machine here.. broken machine there. Followed by.. the announcement that counting is being halted for the night and a winner wont be declared. As soon as that happens you know the Democrat CRIMINAL operation is underway.
Wasn’t Hoekstra considered something of a RINO in Congress?
Main problems are, IMHO:
- while Michigan is a widely conservative state, its liberal enclaves are filled to the brim with a poorly motivated class of voters completely dependant on taxpayers (and growing), permanently ensuring wins even if Cruella DeVille is governor.
Urban metro areas with solid ,one-party rule declining along the normal liberal until broke trajectory.
-Karamo only appeals to a small percentage of Republicans and carelessly says things that make the rest of the party uncomfortable, and comes off as a simpleton. I welcome her and her followers but can’t see how can speak for most common sense, patriotic but less evangelical than her, or how she could come up with plans to defeat “concentrated evil” at work in the MI rat party, who want whole sale transformation of traditional small towns, families, religion of all denominations. They want our children for slaves and want us imprisoned or dead. We need better leadership, with grit and brains.
- biggest drawback is the Donor Class fueled party movers, in general, do not want a winning plan. They’ll still get rich after settling on the next designated loser. (This is true nationally for the most part)
Karamo is not a bad person but is a naive dream some thought might open new minefull of voters from Flint, Detroit, Pontiac, Jackson. We need someone to bring truth bombs to both the Democrats AND donor class MIGOP elites, and scare the communism, corruption, and complacency out of them all.
Kristina Karamo was just elected a year ago by MI gop and now outsiders - RNC- comes in and replaces her. Maybe the end result is an improvement. Dunno. But if she was so bad what happened and how did she get in that spot to begin? I know the article explains that a bit but I am left with questions.
“”Wasn’t Hoekstra considered something of a RINO in Congress?””
I don’t remember him as such. I always had respect for his stance on most all issues. Was sorry to see him go - I thought MI made a mistake rejecting him for the Senate. My husband had relatives living in MI at the time and they were very fond of him.
I am reminded of this as the new gun control laws passed by the DemocRATic house, senate, and governess went into effect yesterday, turning Michigan from a fairly OK 2A state to one on the road to Kalfornia-style gun control.
We got screwed again!!!
The big money has once again bought out the Michigan Republicans.
We threw out the bush league chamber of commerce worshipping republiCAN’Ts at the convention.
We paid for it with the democommies taking over the state.
So, now we pay twice.
We will have the same crappy pubs that don’t listen to us, and we had 2 years of democommie rule.
Screw the bush league chamber of commerce worshipping republiCAN’Ts.
I quit.
F.P.
U.E. would be the person to ask!
A friend of mine is on the inside. He likes Karamo but said she was in way way beyond her capabilities and was easily led by others who didn’t have the people’s best interest.
There’s more to it and I don’t have the detail so I won’t pass on half info.
I don’t live in Michigan and don’t have a dog in the hunt but it was the right decision.
I think this a good move as a long-time MI resident. Last election we lost both the state house and the state senate for the first time in decades, yes the state-level GOPe hard at work. Good to see some major housecleaning God knows we need it.
This also brings up another major point, voting for the lesser of evils is no longer something that many conservatives do. If you subtract the Detroit area (similar to other like states) it’s a rather red state and voters just quit voting for GOPe candidates as they are just democrats in disguise much of the time. So in essence not much has changed but am hopeful - another big reason is that the state GOPe house did NOTHING on the election fraud here, Trump had won narrowly just like last time until a ballot dump in Detroit in the wee hours of the morning and successfully stole it. The state-level GOPe frauds did NOTHING, they could have sent a bill up to the state senate/WHitler every damned day for her to reject but they were purebred RINOs.
Also, term limits don’t work as when one door closes another opens, we’ve had them for many years and all they do is put more crooks into office.
A small contingent of deep state hacks, well short of a quorum despite trying to bring proxies in illegitimately, tried having their own meeting January 6th to try and say they could remove the chair. I believe they also ejected the MIGOP legal counsel who was there pointing out all the bylaws being violated.
On January 13th, a legitimate meeting was held for the state committee. They had the necessary quorum, and voted 59 to 1 that Kristina Karamo was indeed still the legitimate chairwoman of the Michigan State GOP. Upon that vote announcement, 90+ percent of the over 170 people there busted out in applause. Kristina Karamo is the head of the Michigan GOP, the delegates have spoken.
Thank you Uber! Freedom, there is your answer!
Good choice...I lived in his district for many years. Non-corrupted. Lived in his office while in DC to save money. Did his job as a congressman then went home.
