Opening weekend Box Office Data shows #2
I don’t believe the data for the #1 spot since the #3 is so far behind #2
Like we don’t know. Any one with a mere ounce of brain matter understands The Chosen dialogue is fiction/speculation/drama. Everyone knows and understands it’s a drama to stir interest in things of God. Everyone should know that God can and uses anything and everything, including sinful pastors from the pulpit to draw them to Him. Let it be and concern yourself with your own sinful life.
[and concern yourself with your own sinful life.]
I do. Now go and do likewise yourself for your sinful life.
Still doesn’t mean I have to just stay silent about the show.
When my two sons were little guys, I was on the floor with them in their bedroom, reading a children’s picture bible to them. I don’t recall what alarmed me, but I said to myself, “That is NOT what the Bible says!”
When we were through, I went and compared the picture Bible to my Bible. After reading the account, I realized that may very well be what the Bible is saying: I just never interpreted one sentence that way.
Sermons can do the same thing. Listening to someone recounting incidents from scripture may cause you to see things in a way you never saw them before.
That happened to me yesterday. The pastor was telling the story of John Mark, his uncle Barnabus and the apostle Paul. I came to see this account in a very different light than I had ever seen it before.
Because we have read Bible accounts many times, we can tend to misinterpret them because that’s what we thought the previous times we read it.
working with some people who are not believers is different than a holding a gay pride event.
what of Christian people working at most ANY supermarket, which almost all supermarkets support gay pride stuff. I was surprised to see it years ago and changed where I shopped.
should those christians leave their jobs at those stores? or is it better to stay and try to be a good example to others?
I don’t agree with some of Dallas Jenkins words about mormons, but plenty of businesses run by Christians do have employees that are not. If the person is qualified for the job and does a good job then great.
As has happened on the Chosen set, some people are reached and make a decision for Christ, so as I said previously God can use anything to reach people.
no one and nothing is perfect, except Jesus.
John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
It doesn’t accomplish much to shine your light only in the sunshine.
the chosen is NOT another gospel, it’s a movie.
The Chosen stated up front - first episode it was a condensed version of biblical events with additions.
Did you miss that in your early watching?
Just like The Passion, the 10 commandments, and all other Christian movies and most church plays, Sight and Sound productions etc etc. ALL have some bible base and some additions.
many people are being like the pharasee’s (spelling). so stuck on exactness of their 600+ laws many couldn’t grasp what Jesus was doing or hated Him for fact He was growing following. They were hard hearted and blindered I think are some of the words Jesus used to describe them.
ALL people are to be reached, is what Jesus said.
So long as the Chosen series itself does not portray and promote gay pride or divorce or other sins, it is a useful tool like any other church play/christian movie.
Dallas and each of us will be judged by God.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with what you said.
It’s impossible to not encounter stuff like this while in the world. I was not looking at the show until they went public with this stuff.
I’ve had a lot of Mormon friends and acquaintances over the years. Overall, they were generally decent folks.
I would not have known as much about it if not for the work of others (the doctrines, history, etc.)
Plus I read the sales pitch; fortunately I had already read the Bible and recognized it for the hatchet job that it is.
Many do NOT know these things. It’s rather difficult to tell anyone though these days. We’re in the days of below. (a separate post because it has HTML, follows)
Thank you for your decent response, though. Have a blessed day.
Good response.
For pete sake. Just tell us!
Too busy with other stuff and on the cellphone at the time.

There it is. There were images though where the links were broken. Other links show the same images. The threads have pretty much all of it (browsed them again a few hours ago)
I agree with b4me
The Chosen is entertainment and has brought people to Christ.
The studio has some Mormon or gay staff, but they are contractors. I have had to work with atheists and even witches. It is how the world rolls. But, the creator of the series, Dallas Jenkins, bears the fruit of an evangelical Christian.
I have seen no false doctrine in the series. It is entertaining and well put together.
BTW, this same group produced the Sound of Freedom, the movie about child trafficking that all other studios refused to produce.
Some of the ladies I Bible study with have atheist roommates/husbands who enjoy watching The Chosen. We are praying that this is the tool to open their eyes.
To discard The Chosen, you would also have to remove Ben Hur, Quo Vadis, The Robe, and other non Scriptural classics from our culture.
The Chosen presents a disclaimer at the very onset: “We encourage you to read the Gospels”
To each his (or her) own.
I would have largely ignored it until they came out (cough) with the political agenda.
That being said, now I’m aware of it. My friend kept talking it up. He’s now less-interested.
Seems like a Bible with Scripture guides would be appropriate to hand out.
That being said, I know exactly how difficult it is to get someone to actually READ it.
I’m currently dealing with someone who bought what I recommended. She has yet to actually READ much of it (if anything).
Here’s a surprise: one of her causes is ....... The LGBTQ agenda.
I vaguely remember another article and series of posts that convinced me not to watch The Chosen. I think some of the actors were speaking out on the gay (sodomy) topic. The actors really should have remained silent.
I’ve since watched the first five episodes of the first season. It’s not bad. I consider it to be a docu-drama. Known real life events are fleshed out with fictional material.
My wife and I attend Methodist services. As snowbirds (or leafers) we do so in two states. I’m glad that one congregation has left the UMC and joined the more conservative Global Methodist Church. I can already see differences. I hope the other congregation will do likewise.
I think the camel’s nose under the tent is “some people are born that way.” Even if true, accepting that one person was born that way can soon lead to nine people being converted that way. You might as well say that some people are born to be tempted by adultery or theft. So does that make it allright?
I have only watched through season 3
and have seen No political agenda

Links to 4 articles that I found right off.

[political agenda]
It was on the X; artist formerly known as Twitter :)
[... went with the mainstream culture rather than the Bible]
Well-said. Brought your excellent comment to another thread.
When “the mainstream culture” becomes the plumb-line, it’s very late in the day.
John 15:18 Evangelical Heritage Version
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me first.
John 15:19 Evangelical Heritage Version
If you were of the world, the world would love its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it, for that very reason the world hates you.
1 John 3:13 Evangelical Heritage Version
Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
I do not do X or Twitter
my only source is the series itself
Which season and which episode am I supposed to review and look for the political agenda? I ask this in seriousness, my FRiend.
