General Zaluzhny was just replaced as Commanding General of the Ukrainian Military.
Syrski (previously the Ground Forces Commanding General) is the new CG. Several higher Generals have also been shifted around.
I know the general was popular, that doesn’t necessarily equal best man for the job.
The US has sacked top generals in the past in the midst of conflict. McArthur is one example and leadership during iraq and Afghanistan wars was also changed.
Time will tell if this was a prudent move, or political.
Though the top leadership of Russian forces has not changed, plenty of generals have been sacked with little media attention, sure the same will not happen here
Syrski apparently is a Zelenski yes-man, not well liked, disparaged, probably old school Soviet military thinker.
