I think they want a world-wide Chinese Social Credit system.

Shortly before COVID, Hollywood came out with a movie called “The Circle” with Tom Hanks and Emma Watson. It was a really awful movie (I wouldn’t recommend it).

The basic plot is a company (The Circle) which seems like an Apple/Facebook/Google type of thing which tries to “help” society by removing all privacy, largely through the use of AI cameras.

One of the things which hurts the movie is that it is blatantly obvious from the start that the company is evil, intrusive, controlling, and despicable. But, you know, a lot of people are pretty pumped by the idea of how “helpful” it would be if everyone were spied on constantly. Just like the Chinese Social Credit System. I mean — if you knew I was spying on you, you would behave much better, right? So, if I spy on you, I am helping you be your best self, right?

Eventually, Emma Watson figures out that privacy is a good thing, and informs people that The Circle is not a good idea.
