Fani Willis Finally Makes Some Comments on 'Improper Relationship' Allegations, Says 'Racially Motivated'

Fulton County DA Fani Willis spoke at the Big Bethel AME Church in her first remarks pertaining to the scandal about an alleged "improper relationship" with the man she had named to be a special prosecutor, Nathan Wade, to bring the case against former President Donald Trump.

She was accused by a defendant in the case, Michael Roman, of appointing Wade and having him paid nearly $654,000 in legal fees since January 2022. Documents in a filing by Roman also showed what appeared to be payment for two meetings with the White House, which raised concerning questions about possible coordination.

Willis claimed during her speech at the Church that the accusations were racially motivated.

Willis pointed out during her speech that the other two prosecutors assigned to the case, Anna Green Cross and John Floyd, both are white, and noted that allegations have only emerged targeting the two prominent black members of the prosecution — her and Wade.

“Isn’t it them playing the race card when they constantly think I need someone from some other jurisdiction in some other state to tell me how to do a job I’ve been doing almost 30 years?” she asked.

Or maybe it's because she allegedly appointed her boyfriend, which is exactly what Roman said.

“The biggest difference between Ms. Cross, Mr. Floyd and Mr. Wade is that Ms. Willis is not in a relationship with Ms. Cross and Mr. Floyd,” he said in a statement to the Constitution-Journal Sunday.

Why do people question her appointment of the special counsel, she asked. She described Wade as a "great friend" and "great lawyer." While she listed his qualifications, she didn't comment further on what relationship she had with him, and she didn't specifically deny that she had a romantic relationship with him in her remarks.

She tried to bring up race again, saying were people questioning because they were doubting the qualifications of a black man? Why were they questioning her ability to make that decision, she asked.

She even managed to attack Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga), criticizing her over the case, “I never want to be a Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has never met me but has allowed her spirit to be filled with hate."

"You cannot expect black women to be perfect and save the world," Willis said. "The Lord is completing us, we are not perfect. We need your prayers, we need to be allowed to stumble. We need grace."

"We are all flawed, sinners, unworthy, imperfect, damaged," she said.

Somehow I don't think that response will cut it with most people, if these allegations are true. It's a simple question that she really didn't answer, although she certainly pontificated and spoke about Jesus a lot.

Willis said that she would be filing a response formally in response to Roman on the allegations.

If you want a real adventure in slinging it, you can hear more here on the full video. The part related to the case starts around 14:52, the part about expecting black women to be perfect is at around 34:00.

The whole process is dirty. We have learned this in recent years.

I used to believe that the legal system was fair and just. I guess that I was naive. Maybe it has always been this way?

Comments on ‘Improper Relationship’ Allegations, Says ‘Racially Motivated’
= = =

If she is ‘racially motivated, then she should have her ‘relationship’ with a white guy, or better yet, a white trans.
