There isn’t much left in this regime to shock the consumer of news.
We have grown accustomed to the daily cavalcade of assaults on American freedoms in the Federal Register. Both the autocrat-in-chief and his press secretary have mainstreamed the practice of lying about virtually every issue. They attempt to take both sides of foreign policy issues within the same speech, claiming to be supporters of Israel while supporting Hamas, claiming to be opposed to the risk of nuclear war while encouraging Iranian nuclear advancement.
What is left to shock us, in such an environment?
Well, sometime Friday, January 5, the story developed that Lloyd Austin, the 70-year-old Secretary of Defense, was in intensive care, at Walter Reed Hospital, and had been for four days – without anybody notifying anyone in the regime.
In fact, not only did the Department of Defense keep his hospitalization a secret from the White House and the National Security Advisor, DoD personnel specifically lied when asked, claiming that Mr. Austin had been “working from home.”
Now, we must of course stipulate, before we go any further, that Lloyd Austin isn’t exactly a standout in his role. Like everyone else in the Biden-Harris regime, he’s been lackluster at best, dreadful at worst. He bears at least partial responsibility for many of the foreign policy and military disasters throughout this dumpster fire of a presidential term...

Anyone else in the private sector would have been fired already.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, affirmative action at its finest!

Do we know for absolute fact he is in Walter reed?
Colonoscopy and perforated colon... Sepsis.
My guess anyway.
Dereliction of Duty.
AWOL.
Let some E-3 pull something like this and he’d be facing a Dishonorable Discharge.

Congrats to making it to American Thinker!
He’s old and fat, never a good combo.
Thank you!
I do love writing for AT. Great people, just terrific editors and a huge readership. And since they have a much stricter word limit than the others I write for, it forces me to be brief, one of my lifelong challenges... :-)
Wonderful! I look forward to reading more of your great work! Been following you for a while. :)
Democracy Dies in Darkness
A rumor from out at the fringes:
He was wounded by a russkie strike while on a secret visit to Ukraine.
With a colonoscopy, he would have undergone serious anesthesia where he would have been semi-conscious at best and therefore unable to have conversations and make decisions for a couple hours. To have done that without transferring authority and making sure the communications were lined up to his Deputy would, even if that was all that happened, be a serious dereliction.
By the way, the Secretary of Defense travels with a security motorcade. It’s at least three vehicles, but probably more. So on January 1st when he was taken by ambulance to the hopsital, it would have been quite a scene. Between the security people and the hospital, there had to have been dozens of people aware that he had been taken by ambulance and was at the hospital. It’s crazy that anyone would even attempt to keep that secret. In addition to Austin’s irresponsibility, this likely says a lot about how weak and out of it Biden is, and how chaotic and unmanaged his Administration is.
De-Dicktomy Alert!
They must have attached it to his tongue by mistake...
Now we have Biden who won't fire anybody who fails over and over in leadership.

Or maybe it was just General Miley 😳
I hear that since his release from ICU for the “elective procedure,” he’s wanting everyone to address him as Lana.
I don’t believe the WH didn’t know about this. For whatever reason, he was in the hospital, and the administration was keeping it under wraps. When it leaked, they claimed they didn’t know. After all, it is an election year.
