Governor Ron DeSantis, who continues to slide in the national polls, took a swipe at Trump and MAGA movement during his interview on MSNBC.
DeSantis insisted Trump could have pardoned all of the J6ers before he left office. How was President Trump supposed to know that the DOJ and FBI was going to arrest over 1,200 Trump supporters including hundreds who walked inside the open doors on the US Capitol on January 6.
Ron DeSantis: It’s interesting on the, on the January 6 protest. I mean, he, he called that rally knowing that that was going to be in DC where things could get potentially out of hand. And he’s now saying he would do clemency for the, I guess the nonviolent, but he could have done that when he was president. He could have said, look, this was, he could have taken responsibility. He could have said that the people that went, not the violent people, obviously, that’s a different bird of a different feather. But on the people that were there just as protesters and kind of got caught up in it, he could have granted clemency to them. And he chose not to because I think he was told that if he did that, he could potentially risk being convicted at a Senate impeachment trial. So the idea that now he’s going to help people that were railroaded, he could have done that before he left office.
Joe Scarborough: Do you think there were people that were railroaded that took part in the January 6 riots?

Keep digging that hole deeper, Ron.
There was no indication before Trump left office that those who protested peacefully were going to be persecuted by the state.
So, how could Trump have pardoned them?
Precisely! Why can’t DeSantis see that?
Morning Joe???!!!!
Thanks for the post & comment. BUMP!
Yes. Exactly.
Joe Scarborough, a huge Trump hater.
Well, in a way, Ron is correct on this, however, to pardon them would be possible admission that they did something wrong.
Losing a primary to President Trump might not be so bad as a candidates go, however losing to Nikki Haley would make one. . .never mind you fill in the blank.
I guess he’s desperate to go on despicable MSNBC.
“Ron DeSantis: I think there were people, Joe, that came because he said to protest the election.”
So he not only didn’t answer the question, he thinks we have to be told what to think and do. His refusal to admit people were railroaded is why I could never support this guy at this point.
Why would a so-called Republican candidate sully themselves by appearing on Morning Joe-—more like Morning Ho. And how could Trump pardon people indicted AFTER he left office? Duh.
“For him to go on Morning Joe this morning should be enough to write him off for good.”
Yep. Anyone snuggling up to extreme left-wing liberals says all we need to know about their backroom alliances.
RINO Ron.
They would have had to be charged before Trump left office.
DeSantis is on the wrong side.
He’s a liar. Trump had no such power and he damn well knows it. Everyone dances around it, but the government was overthrown on January 6 and seventh. It was a stealth 26th amendment. Half of his cabinet resigned, the military was answering to Milley, The DOJ was not following his orders. And one big question, we had two divisions of national guard take to the streets in DC. Who issued those orders? It wasn’t Trump. Here was the deal, Trump was allowed to do a few minor things, but was told if he did anything else, he would’ve been removed that afternoon via 26. Pence was in on the deal. he was told to sit down and shut up that 26 would happen and he would be gone in two days. And if it went that way, he would be arrested and prosecuted, and his children as well. If he excepted it and left, he would be allowed to leave quietly.
The obvious fact is that Trump had no control over the government in those last two weeks. He controlled what he could see. The entire government was in rebellion at that point. For the last two weeks of his government, we were ruled by a Junta of Pence, Pelosi, and Milley. That’s just a fact.
DeSantis is a POS.
Exactly!
“And he chose not to because I think he was told that if he did that, he could potentially risk being convicted at a Senate impeachment trial.”
Worse than that, it would’ve been an immediate removal under the 26th. Pence would’ve signed off on it, half his cabinet was already gone. Trump would’ve responded with a letter that he was able to execute the office. Period the senate would’ve had an immediate vote and overrode that. The process would’ve taken less than two days. And had they done that, after removal, he and all his kids were going to be arrested. The military was already moving into the streets, two divisions worth of National Guard soldiers from almost every state poured in. Trump did not give those orders to lock down DC. The conspirators also “seized the radio station” so to speak. He was wiped off of Twitter, Facebook, everything. The cut off is communications essentially. The government was overthrown, and DeSantis knows that. Tells me a lot about him to see what he did.
