California’s tax exodus shifts wealth to Texas; only 200,000 fund half the state budget.

The economic and demographic shifts in California present significant hurdles. The departure of high earners, as you pointed out, strains the tax base, with a small fraction of taxpayers now carrying a hefty portion of the state’s budget burden.

The exit of over a million taxpayers and the purported replacement with what you describe as “illegal fake refugees” introduce additional complications. Balancing immigration policies, economic stability, and resource management becomes a nuanced challenge for California’s leaders.

Many California state workers who retired jumped the border to Nevada in order to avoid CA state income taxes on their pensions.

“California’s leaders” are like teenagers with a couple of cases of beer in the car...all taxpayers can do is flee for their lives.

In the seventies, California was truly the Golden state, skiing in the mountains, surfing in the ocean, beautiful girls everywhere and an economy that provided an high income for even the blue collar class.
But alas this would pass as it wasn’t good enough for the liberals as they set about setting out solutions in search of a problem. Problems only made worse by their solutions.
Once the in place to be is now the place to escape from.
A dystopia only Hollywood could imagine.

If they embraced it, why did CA go all mail-in and limit the hand counting of ballots...

The destructive fault line is economic, not geology. Covid cash hid many of California’s woes.

Just wait until their ridiculous rules on tractor trailers and diesel engines kick in and get nestled in.

All that shipping traffic, I was told that California gets something like 40% of the cargo, heading to other places. Meaning everything is more expensive since the ships have to travel longer and more dangerous routes and the Chinese control the Panama Canal.

Guess why there seems to be distribution centers and warehouses popping up like weeds all over Georgia.

If there are only 200k Income tax payers, the state may have reached a point of nearly no return.

Quite likely a good number of them are engineers, and it's also quite likely many of them are from China and India.

They can’t keep taxing people. That turnip got no more blood in it.

They are going to have to cut. When that happens, a whole bunch of people are going to get the sads.

I think Bloomberg doped out that there were only 20,000 taxpayers holding up NYCs budget.
