Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Igor Strelkov, the man (FSB Officer) who led the initial Russian operation to feign an internal revolt in the Donbas against Ukrainian rule in 2014, rots away in prison, worried for his life.

Kyiv Post reports: (Karma Update)

"In his latest interview, Igor Girkin (AKA Strelkov), a nationalist militia leader arrested for “extremism” in criticizing Putin’s handling of the war, said he fears for his life in Russian captivity."

"Igor “Strelkov” Girkin, a former Russian intelligence officer turned militia leader turned prisoner, said he was afraid he would suffer the same fate as the deceased Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“My greatest fear is that instead of the usual criminal punishment, I will be ‘amnestied’ in the same way as the Cook [a common nickname for Prigozhin due to his background in the catering business],” Girkin said in his latest prison correspondence with Russian news outlet Baza ahead of his trial.

He also had a grim outlook for his upcoming trial, saying there’s “no place left on Earth where I would be recognized as a law-abiding citizen.”

Girkin explained: “In the West, I have already been recognized as a terrorist after the verdict of the Hague Tribunal. And in my homeland, apparently, the dubious reputation of an extremist awaits me.”

The Hague District Court issued Girkin a life sentence in absentia for his involvement in downing the civilian MH17 airline in 2014 that involved a Russian BUK missile system.

Girkin was arrested in July 2023 by Russian authorities over extremism charges, where his pro-war views, often critical of the Russian military’s lackluster performance, clashed with the Kremlin’s narratives."

Not a good analogy, does every picture I have taken of birds represent all birds. If I hand a 5 to a cashier does that mean I don’t have any money left in my wallet? Could it could not

The fact is every video or picture of a soldier killed or tank destroyed is counted, if you think that everything destroyed is recorded and then posted on social, then so be it, but you know that is not true?

Quibble over “significant “ if you will, but speedy’s basic point is valid, and common sense supports that

The Guardian (UK) reports:

“The Ukrainian parliament has approved four bills necessary to start European Union accession talks, including one on national minorities’ rights, a critical demand from Hungary which opposes Ukraine’s EU bid. Parliament’s website confirmed that president Volodymyr Zelenskiy signed all the bills into law.”

Guess where Russia’s frozen National Wealth Fund assets are going?

The Guardian reports:

“The EU’s executive is due to approve next week a legal proposal on using proceeds from Russian assets frozen under sanctions, but doubts in France, Germany and Belgium mean Ukraine would not get the money anytime soon, officials and diplomatic sources said. The draft law is expected on 12 December, two days before the year’s final summit of the EU’s 27 national leaders at which billions of much-needed budgetary and military aid for Kyiv are at stake, as well as advancing Ukraine’s membership bid.”

Big grain crops in both the Ukraine and Russia in 2023

From the Guardian (UK):

“Ukraine’s farm ministry has raised its 2023 grain harvest forecast to 59.7m tonnes, saying the country had a “record grain yield”. The total grain and oilseed harvest is expected to reach 81.3m tonnes, the ministry added in a statement.”

You can call it “quibbling” if you want but to take picked examples off the net and some web pages can present a distorted view or impression. One that that is intended, and any time someone expresses any sense of disbelief or questioning beyond blind support, the old ‘common sense’ or other descriptions come in.

Scatter all those bills all over a huge European war zone and if a cautious source is counting only the ones that are caught on film being picked up while common sense and other sources are reporting vastly more being picked up, then the source that is only counting the ones photographed being picked up can be considered a conservative source.

Is that not the point of posting links etc…, no one can post everything, everyone has a bias so just like speedy and mom post links, so does world, kazan….

Look at them, look at others. I like atp geopoli, Perun, Andrew,, Joe bloggs, the professor and yes Denys. Russian dude has some good stuff to. I also check out pro Russian sources , RT is a good place to see what Putin wants told to his people, and then i form an opinion

I don’t dismiss out of blindness, but out of the information I have.

But when someone says something like if ukranians are winning then why arnt they at the gates of Moscow or the Sea of Japan, then yes I disregard, not it if blindness or disbelief, but out of knowledge

You probably are one of the few here that do look at other sources, then. Some of the links in ongoing regular posts are just straight out of a regular one-side hit list.

I don’t like Russia. I don’t particularly like Putin, frankly. He is for all intents and purposes a dictator. But so is Zelenski (banning opposition party and individuals and stopping free elections) IMO, and he is just plain obnoxious with his threats, blaming, shaming, cajoling, pontificating and begging for money and arms even we can’t afford enough of (e.g., THAAD, F-18s, C117s and C130s).

So I’m choosing America first. America’s borders, its economy and its avoidance of a WWIII-ish nuclear confrontation by blindly supporting a country with which we don’t even have a treaty.

I think you may misconstrue listing “pro Ukraine” sources in a pro Ukraine thread as fact that other sources are not looked at.

This site is not intended to be a “fair and balanced” place, if you want pro Russian platforms they are there.

Avoidance of “nuclear war” mindset is what will lead to leaders like xi, Putin, Kim, mullahs to think they can do what they want, IMO

Much like “peace in our time” lead to WW2

Again I will say that much of the equipment being sent or proposed, or desired are already bought and paid for, and in many cases like old 155 and cluster munitions scheduled for destruction. Australia has 40 mothballed f-18s, we have more c-130s, abrams, Stryker,m-113s, Bradly’s than we need and are slated for disposal, F-16s are plentiful, and though I will get much push back A-10s which the Air Force has been trying to get rid of for decades
lol look what Bulgaria is doing sending obsolete and defective AA to Ukraine, bet they will use them and find a way to fix them, necessity has a way of doing that. Old and obsolete beat nothing

Another tid bit and file it under we would never fight this way, US contractors are not allowed to help with maintenance and training in Ukraine. When I was in Iraq and Afghanistan if it were not for contractors we would have been screwed. Much of the reconnaissance aircraft were all civilian contractors

Additionally I would not go so far as saying”blindly” supporting, I would say rather anemic support at best

Wait till “offensive “ is practically over before providing cluster and atacms, waiting two years for western aircraft, 31 out of 5000 abrams hundreds out of thousands of Bradley’s and Strykers

One might even propose that the goal was to bleed Russia but not allow Ukraine to defeat their invasion all the while guaranteeing lots of Ukrainian casualties and limited success

Curious what would have happened at the beginning of the much heralded and pushed for offensive if cluster and atacms had been there to decimate Russian forces and air assets , not after they had done the damage.
