I’m thinking of getting him a Wi-Fi enabled thermostat. It would give him controls to bump the setting up or down, but all the other controls would be too confusing for him so he wouldn’t mess with them. And, if he managed to cause trouble, I could fix things without going over.

LOL! I can relate. A simple round thermostat that dials right or left works just fine.
