yes, millions did die. they died from disease brought over by sailors from italy sailing with Christopher Columbus... NOT the pilgrims or others from the UK.

In both Canada and the USA, the REAL genocide started after nominal independence from the British Empire.
The British treated the native tribes as sovereign entities and trading partners.
The Americans treated the natives as pests to be exterminated.
The Canadians treated the natives with segregation and forced assimilation that only ended within my lifetime.
It was only during the past decade that true reconciliation began at the cultural & personal level here in Canada.

The Pilgrims were collectivists who only survived with the help of the Native Americans then prospered by abandoning collectivism.

What is it that they say, possession is 9/10 of the law? The Indians never maintained possession of the land because they were still hunters and gatherers They just didn’t stay in the same place for long periods of time and when they did, they were attacked and killed or made slaves by other tribes. ( sometimes French or Spanish priests)

The settlers of the American West and the Iroquois Confederacy had their own concept of property rights enshrined into law centuries before European settlement.
The biggest problems were that (1) the indigenous concept of “Trespassing” conflicted with the European concept of “Squatters’ Rights”, a conflict that not even the British Empire fully understood when it signed treaties, in good faith, with every indigenous nation that they encountered in the Americas. Other European Empires
(France, Spain & Portugal) chose active (slavery & slaughter) and/or passive (infections diseases & local superstitions) genocide as the default option.

Agreed 100%. All evidence points to our species migrating out of tropical Africa. We only know of three Homo Sapiens civilizations that developed independently: The West (Western & Central Eurasia, including our own), the Far East (China & Southeast Asia), and the Mesoamerican empires (roughly bound by the US-Mexico border to the north and Chile to the south).
